Fuck this 2:07 that didn't came in the GAME! Crytek UPDATE AGAIN!
Well I like the Tessellation in the new update dx11 water effect is cool.
CRYTEK UPDATE AGAIN! I don't care if my PC won't run anymore because of ULTIMATE update graphics.. I just want to see these kind of Illuminations... I mean, C'mon Crytek. :D
Cool but still, its just faking the GI it isnt complete and i notis alott is missing, althoug a fully photon traced GI would be to complex for a realtime engine
"Among the new features to be unveiled is a global illumination solver called Unreal Lightmass, which Epic says produces high-quality static lighting and effects including soft shadows with accurate penumbrae; diffuse and specular interreflection and color bleeding."
@exicci yes but none of these are truly photon traced GI, the way these work is.. when a light shines on a coloured surface, an extra ambient light with that same color is created just on that surface iluminating only the objects around it, not creating new soft shadows or extending on further, it is just a fake ilumination, like old school CGI, and it cant realy compaire to Photo Baced GI that works of HDRI maps
Well, is that global illumination close to as dynamic as CryEngine? I doubt it, Unreal has never been much dynamic about their graphics, hence why they run so well. CryEngine tries to create a realistic world, even the light from the sun changes directions. That shit could have been prerendered into the map easily, they didn't show the shadows and light moving at all.
amateur, notice the "distributed light computation" show-off afterwards? That stuff is pre-baked in UE3. Why "distributed"? Because it takes hours/days for a network of highest-end PCs to do the calculations. Not completely-dynamic at 180fps as in CE3.
Of course the baked data, computed in hours/days will look better than dynamic data, computed in 3 milliseconds.
Too bad this is only for the sun (no entity lights)

hope this kind of technique will allow antialiasing... i don't see it...

45 minute mental ray= 16 generations of video cards until realtime rendering at 24fps... Fuck! That's 20 years! Lol... :'(

You could say that about anything - wait til cryengine 4 comes out in 2014 it will blow unreal engine 4 away.

CryEngine 3 = Dynamic global illumination
Unrea lEngine 3 = Static global illumination

tres prometteur, mais a quel prix?
seras-t-il suffisament bien programmé pour nos pc sans debourser 1000€ dans une carte graphique?
quid de la compatibilitée ati?

this is BAD! we need dx11

CryEngine3 can do what DirectX11 cannot.
tamzf1 2 years ago
dx 11 is an graphics API
djorkid 2 years ago
yes, except for tessellation,CryEngine 3 can do a lot of things without even requiring dx 11

So is this just lighting getting reflected on other objects?

2:08 Where did the shadows go? Don't those objects cast a shadow on the wall?
heffeque 2 years ago 2
you are right, thou they are trying to show how light on objects creates a reflection. One wonderful detail if you ask me xD
eka501 2 years ago 2
I think Crytek turn off castshadow of the objects.

+1 kinda funny when you see no shadow on a such serious engine
