Lol when I went to college the biggest stoners I knew were my roommates, one in the Army and one in the Air Force. They would smoke a quarter in two weeks and then take two weeks off before their monthly drills.
The majority of people I know that joined the few years after 911 did it for their personal feelings, and the majority of people that I know that joined within the last 3 years were all dropouts that had no jobs and that saw it as a quick way of getting college paid for and money.

The Army values i.e. "integrity" do not apply to you until you are a soldier. You will take a piss test once your in also, I have personlay seen people thrown out of processing because of this. This is an obscure case. Just like all aspects of life you have a small percentage of jackasses ruining it for the rest. This does NOT paint a picture of the Army or any U.S military organization. It only speaks to the specific recruiting office. But you have your people running off at the rails that will make this about the war, Bush, Fox news, the country, democracy, or whatever their problem is. Then I guess you're not aware of all the other methods of luring kids into the military. And how they tell them they are signing up for a 1-2 year contract but they don't tell them about "stop-loss" which will extend their enlistment, a silent draft so to speak. They are now paying bonuses ($20,000) to people who join and take an expedited training so as to get shipped out earlier.
And that they have lowered the recruitment requirements to allow criminals, including felons. Women are already getting raped by their fellow troops, but hey, lets let *convicted* rapists serve.

I totally agree. Someone wants to join the military and they decide to cheat so that he can have this opportunity and turn his life around. Highschool dropouts and drug users could easily turn their life around for the better by enlisting.
I was never interested in the army but was hunted down SEVERAL times due to test scores and my school not keeping information confidential.
Its different when you go to them to enlist.

The Army values i.e. "integrity" do not apply to you until you are a soldier. You will take a piss test once your in also, I have personlay seen people thrown out of processing because of this. The recruiters job is to just get you in. The military will decide if your actually worth keeping around once you signed a contract.

It was from my highschool i had dropped out of but it was my name over somone elses lol! then i went to the local MEPS in Milwaukee and pissed out some cocaine and was denied (this was march or april shortly after some terrorist threat was made in phoenix {where my mom lives near some nuclear reactor})

You can understand the pressure they're under. If a country doesn't have a military big enough to do its job, then you don't lose that Christmas bonus. You get defeated, killed, invaded, whatever. It's the hard limit.
But your army has got to maintain those standards anyway, like they were iron. There are plenty of countries that haven't done so, and believe me, you don't want to live in them.

Then I guess you're not aware of all the other methods of luring kids into the military. And how they tell them they are signing up for a 1-2 year contract but they don't tell them about "stop-loss" which will extend their enlistment, a silent draft so to speak. They are now paying bonuses ($20,000) to people who join and take an expedited training so as to get shipped out earlier.
