I agree with the people that say U2 have only gotten worse. I like them up until AB. Zooropa had its moments, after that it gets from bad to worse. the last 3 records sees them a pale shadow of their former self. There's nothing amateurish about their early stuff, they'd been playing 6 years by the time this show was played and in fact their early stuff is more complex, just different style thats all. The edge was a far more inventive and interesting player from boy up to JT than he was later on
EVERYBODY LISTEN!! These guys have got to bring out the old material for the new tour...this was AMAZING!! The last tour the did Electric Co & Cat Dubh but we NEED the original CLASSIC U2..from the best band in the world!!! Let me know if you agree!!!!
i definitely agree!!!!! but u2 is evolving and they don't really go to past, we need to listen to new u2 , that's the life sentence!!!! hahah we can only look on you tube for old videos with tear in our eyes
I did see in one of the sound checks for the 360 tour they did a version of their old song from War "Surrender" which would have been epic if they would play it live.
Hey bol316, I still like U2, but as the Rolling Stone Magazine wrote: Try to percieve Bonos voice as a sound-effect. In the old songs he was o.k. but later I just think he tried things he was not capable of.
Holo Snot! At 1:01 and 1:12 he shows his "Rattle & Hum" voice. I didn't know his voice peaked that early. Not that it did as he still had room to improve vocaly but just to say that he had potenital. Even then.
I agree. It got worse and worse every year, but still it was o.k. until they tried to sing a gospel song. a pure nightmare. Bono cannot sing, he is squeezing. I loved them but they should have stuck to their roots.
I've seen U2 many times since the War tour in 2003 and I have to say that I still believe that WAR is their best album: Its simply awesome. To describe it as "amateurish" is utterly ridiculous. Anyone who calls themselves a U2 fan really should have it in their collection.
Well I DO call myself a U2 fan, and remain in disagreement with you. I do have it in my collection, for the record. And I stand by my position, having listened to the entire catalogue. Call it ridiculous if you will, but you have only your opinion to back it up, as I have mine.
simply amazing - i saw these guys for the first time that same year (1982) in detroit at the late grand circus theater - this video brings a tingle down my spine as it reminds me of how magical it felt at the time to witness and be swept away by the unique power of their performance - while they continued to develop and put out great material in the years to follow, i think in many ways they were at their peak during this period.
There aren't frontmen like young Bono anymore, walking to the crowd, climbing up the stage...

@DEK981967 I am 99.9% sure that is not a Gibson by the headstock. Thats not the traditional Gibson logo on there.

earlier the better with U2 - they got worse and worse - first 3 albums are CLASSICS

I feel the opposite way..but just an opinion. The first albums are okay but too amature for my taste

Bono cant sing? You can't possibly be a U2 fan (or have even half decent hearing) and say that. Your post fails.
