They should really do a Seniors Premier League for Snooker. Here are the 8 players I would choose (in no particular order): Steve Davis, Jimmy White, Cliff Thorburn, Terry Griffiths, Dennis Taylor, Joe Johnson, Tony Knowles and Alex Higgins. If Higgins is unable to play then Willie Thorne.
wot a legend....it was unfortunate what happened....him and alchohol. Maybe he should return to the game...him and other greats eg jimmy white, kirk stevens, jo johnson etc.
davisreardon, unless you've not got a brain in your head the people applauding every shot were the people who know he was given 5 months to live 10 years ago you feckin idiot.
If you don't know about something, don't write shite.
The man pots a black off the spot and some arse kisser says great shot. Higgins is used to having his arse kissed by people who dont know him. A great player but a wanker all the same
he was 33 in 82, you can watch my video where alex higgins did the 135 break to win the WC.one of the commentator says that higgins is there 33 years old ;)
Supporting Alex amidst all the heartache and anguish was a seminal part of my teenage years. He was a flawed character but you couldn't help but love him.

I've played Pete Cross a few times in local league snooker, and believe me he is one of the best amateurs around.

@daveaw23 Looks like an average club player at best.
Nice to see a video of Alex, RIP.

I think "with respect" Alex and other semi pro players still have alot of pressure and don't have the same fight as they did in their hey day.

It's a crying shame that someone so talented, becomes a victim of alcohol
