I'm so glad that I found this video!!! When I was 2 or 3 my parents recorded another cartoon on VHS for me and then I mischeviously recorded part of Sesame Street (with this song) over it. It cut back to the cartoon only half-way through this song, so I've never heard the whole thing until now. Thank you!!!
The style's less poppy than Jerry's '70s records and the speak-sung interjections are reminiscent of many of Miller's classic novelties, e.g. "Dang Me," "Do-Wacka-Do," and "Chug-a-Lug."
Oh. When I clicked on its link on muppet wiki, they didn't talk much about the original version (except for some album releases). Thanks for the info.

This got a giggle out of me! I'll say that was Richard Hunt as the lead singer.
I wonder how the people filming this were able to stifle their laughter!

Foothills of Kansas? Ha! Kansas is flat as can be. Great opening joke.

maybe the foothill was at the bottom of a speedbump somewhere? ;)

I somewhat remember this. This must have been in the 70's. I like it. Those muppets should be put in an institution.

I don't know why, but this guy kind of reminds me of Jerry Reed. Is this who he's trying to be?

@muppetfan33

Are you sure it wasn't Polly Darton's version?
jonnytbirdzback 3 years ago
No, this is the one on DVD.
MarshalGrover 3 years ago
Trust me! It was the original version. Read the review on Muppet Central, or just buy the DVD if you do not believe me.
