Maddow was right. Even if it was a MOVEON advert, which it was not, it didn't say "BUSH is HITLER". It said "Bush policies are like Hitler's policies." In which case the user-posted advert was really talking about Cheny, don'cha know?
The debate was about the direct characterization of the President of the United States as Hitler, complete with freakin' mustaches stuck on Obama's uppper lip via Photoshop. And direct death threats on "tea party" placards.
You seem to think that it's wrong for people to compare Obama to Hitler, as if it's somehow wrong to call the President Hitler. Maybe you should watch this ad.
So because this isn't their video, but a user created video that they took down, they're responsible for its content because they knew or ought to have known of the existence of a meme? Really?
I suppose then when Free Republic claimed they weren't racist because some users posted racist comments to their site (which unlike MoveOn and this video they did not delete), they were lying, yes?
Rachel was correct. This was not a MoveOn ad, it was a user submission to a MoveOn ad contest. Not only did MoveOn never run this ad, they had it taken down from the user submission page.

There were more than just this video. The forums and blogs on the Left were filled with people gnashing at the prospect of rebellion and kidnapping members of your govt,(the Bush admin).I remember saying to myself, isnt that treason?Dont worry though its all recorded on the internet.
Bush's great-grandfather Samuel Bush worked with JD Rockefeller Sr to raise funds to promote German eugenics racial purity -- something Rockefeller did while Adolph Hitler was 6 years-old in 1st grade. Samuel's son Prescott Bush became Hitler's financer Fritz Thyssen's banker for USA-NYC transactions involving moving gold bullion as early as 1926. Prescott Bush was director of nazi companies right up until 1942, eight months after Pearl Harbor, sold Thyssen's coal to Auschwitz to burn jews.
No, it's not okay for Democrats to do it. Which is why this ad never aired and was pulled and apologized for when it was submitted to the contest. It's not okay for Democrats to do it, it's not okay for Republicans to do it, it's not okay for liberals or conservatives in any party to do it. Just because some jerkoff submits a dickish ad to a contest doesn't make it okay for *anyone* to compare the President of the United States of America to a genocidal tyrant. Period.
MediaMatters clarifies that two "Hitler" videos were submitted to a MoveOn(dot)org advertisement contest. MoveOn never endorsed the efforts nor promoted them; the clips simply appeared on MoveOn's crowded contest website. But when news spread about their mere existence, a controversy erupted, and the liberal netroots group quickly pulled the ads, apologized for their inclusion, and denounced the use of Nazi imagery.
WTF? The ad was submitted by some anonymous user. It could have been gay gossip Matt Drudge for all we know. Then MoveOn didn't even use it and in fact removed it immediately. The GOP lies so much it's ridiculous.
i couldn't fucking stand president bush but to compare him to hitler is as bad as comparing barack obama to hitler today and i think this video is despicable in the respect.
Here's what MoveOn says about this ad "One prong of this attack is the persistent attempt to characterize one of the 1500 entries in the BushIn30Seconds contest the now infamous Hitler ad as an ad somehow supported and aired by MoveOn. Of course, this is not true, and in fact the ad itself only appeared to the public at large on the RNC and Bush campaign web sites. While their consistent harping on this lie has gotten press, in the end its backfired. "
This is the truth. Move on did not air this ad on tv. They did inspire it's creation. It is no more fair to blame all left wingers for the actions of a few crackpots than it is to blame right wingers. This ad is despicable. As it was for someone to paint that swastika on Rep. David Scott's office sign. Everyone needs to knock it off.
No, you are WRONG. MoveOn NEVER promoted this ad, it was just one of a thousand submitted for a contest. The members of MoveOn VOTED IT DOWN, and it went nowhere.
Nevertheless, MoveOn regretted even having it on their site among the thousand submissions and apologized later, to Jewish groups and everyone who was offended.
Please google moveon hitler ad and look at the fifth link for confirmation on Salon of the above.
You are a liar. This ad did not win the contest. The winning ad was "Child's Pay". This user submitted ad did not even make the first cut. You can look it up, because you obviously didn't.
MoveOn was criticized by a Jewish advocacy group, among others, when a member-submitted ad which drew parallels between President George W. Bush and Adolf Hitler was submitted to their online ad contest "Bush in 30 Seconds". The ad was part of an online MoveOn-sponsored contest, "Bush in 30 Seconds", during the 2004 presidential election, in which members were invited to create and submit political ads challenging President Bush .The advertisement was quickly pulled off the website.
Based on his nationalization of US financial institutions, the auto industry and healthcare; his obvious hatred of the Jews and Israel; his use of strong-arm tactics and a government controlled news media; and, of course, his charismatic ability to mesmerize and control his adoring Obama-bots; I'd say BHO resembles AH more than Bush and the Dems resemble the Nazis more than the GOP.
yeah, Obama haaaaates jews, especially his chief of staff, Rahm Emmanuel, whose parents were Israeli immigrants who fought in militias against the palestinians... makes total sense to me!!
You cannot compare this video to the vile slurs on the posters outside Town Halls today. We DID INVADE Iraq ! Without probable cause and lost thousands of American lives! Comparing that to Healthcare is ridiculous. YOU conservatives are such liars. This ad does NOT depict Bush AS Hitler, no stupid drawings, just a FACT that invading was what Hitler did. Even your precious Glenn Beck HATED the healthcare he recieved just 16 months ago! HYPOCRITES !!!!
What vile slurs on what posters? I have seen far worst on posters from dems about Bush. Hell, we can't even burn Obama in effigy without morons calling us racist. Hang Bush in effigy and its free speech. Hang Obama in effigy and its racism.
Rachel Maddow literally just said on Meet the Press that Moveon never comapred President Bush to Adolf Hitler and the Nazi's. It's hard to say she lied because she may not have known but it was ridiculous of her to actually take the side that it never happened when the liberal left has been calling Bush a Nazi for years.
She said the MoveOn never ran the ad, which is true. It was one of thousand on their website before they realized it was there. They never promoted it, their members voted it down, and they took it off when they realized it was there.
This is the video Racheal Maddow claims doesn't exist, eh? It's so nice to have a government controlled media to continue to misinform the public. It's the only way the democrats can win.
She never claimed it didn't exist, she responded to Dick Armey's lie that they ran the ad on TV and said No, they never ran the ad (on TV), which is true.

They attempted to run this ad during the Superbowl and at the last minute the network told them they couldn't. And Rachel Maddow never qualified the statement with "on TV". Nice spin but far off target. I'd say your myth has been busted.
Hey look! It's that ad that I just saw Rachel Maddow say didn't exist on "Meet the Press". As for Nazi's not being socialist , well since the word nazi is short for National Socialist party of Germany. It would seem they thought they were.
Wow, the ignorance on some of these comments is absolutely astonishing. Have none of you bothered to pay attention to the fact that if TARP hadn't passed, we'd be in a depression right now?
As for your railings abt health care, have any of you actually read the bill, or are you just parroting lies spouted by that drug addict Limbaugh?
Srsly, people, can we start to get a little thinking around here?
P.S. the parallels between Hitler and Bush are terrifyingly real. History, read you some.
"if TARP hadn't passed, we'd be in a depression right now?" And whose the one spewing talking points here? I bet you parrot all of Obama's talking points don't you?
Read Saul Alinsky's Rules For Radicals and pay attention to the Obama administration and you can see one of the rules being applied. You do know what The Rules for Radicals is don't you?
P.S. the parallels between Obama, communism AND Hitler are very scary.
I agree, the parallels exist, mainly because Nazism was a mix of left-right ideology. It was big business wrapped in populist garb, socialism which was really totalitarianism.
The problem with the Obama/Bush parallels to Hitler is:
1. Bush is too much of a Christian to hate Jews.
2. Obama is too much of a hippie to start wars.
How anyone can say either man is Hitler is absurd. Yes, there are similarities, but what does that even mean? You say Obama had a mustache in college...ah-ha! HITLER!!
He sure is trying to beef up Afghanistan though. Makes a handy distraction to divert attention away from the fact that he is the economic savior everyone thought he was or claimed to be.
You've never read it, you've just heard it talked about on Fox and thought it would make you sound smart to name drop it. You guessed wrong. Next time just shout something about a birth certificate or a death panel.

This video makes me sick, the people behind it make me more sick. Now to a positive note: I would like to thank our troops, who are and have served to keep this nation free from tyrants, socialist ideals. God is still in charge and His will be done.
All this is is liberal propaganda they cry and complain if you tell them what there actual ideals are socialism and then they release this but if anything was released like this about a democrat all of the media except fox news would be calling the person a terrorist and making huge deal about it quite frankly Obama has been more of a nazi in his first 8 months or so than george bush was his whole 8 years.
I don't condone the comparison, but here's a starter:
Bush lied to the country about WMD's & the connection between Iraq & Al-quida. The culture of fear was persuasive, & galvanized many (including myself) to support a faulty war.
Hitler lied to the people of Germany with a slew of racist propoganda which said a Jewish-Russian conspiracy wanted to overthrow Germany. The racist Germans elected him, & supported his efforts to eliminate Jews & go to war with Russia.
I agree heavily with holliemark because i would really like to know how President Bush acted in any way that Hitler did...All these types of videos are doing is falsly educating the minds of people who get on here and watch them, and all you're doing is making our own country look like a socialistic anti-sematic bunch of morons just because the democrats were being a bunch of babies because their dumb fuck morons didn't get elected
HITLER references are despicable, regardless of which side you lean. Nazis were SOCIALISTS, but the connotation takes on so much more than just government control. Stalin or Chavez or Lenin, maybe qualify, but NO ONE in the U.S. compares to Hitler.....and I can't stand what our CURRENT president is doing. Bush was unfairly criticized.
Nazis were not socialists. They were fascists. P.S. if you dislike socialism, then don't ever apply for Social Security, Medicaid, Food Stamps or Unemployment.
Let's see, a man not born in the country he would end up ruling, rails against the rich and whips everyone up into a frenzy and assigns a group for blame as to why everyone else is miserable. He then nationalizes a car company, creates a civilian police force and goes after the rich by confiscating everything they own. Yeah, Bush was Hitler. Ha!

Is that close enough for you?

Yeah and what is Hussein trying to do? Silence his opposition in every form. Sounds a bit like Fascism to me!

Ha!

Whether left or right, the argumentum ad Hitleram is one of the biggest logical fallacies out there.

Hahahaha. A least Bush didn't ask citizens to rat out other "fishy" citizen to Big Brother. Who's the Nazi now?
