@redemptivetobacco Keep also in mind one of the UK girls got hurt that year too. It was so painful, no pun inteded, watching her do the whole routine with one busted knee.
I agree with you 100% on all of that about UK. Yes, you are gonna win if you can get kids from community colleges to come cheer for your program at a university. I cheered at NC STATE (00-01) and our program prides it self on education and only allowing students who attend the university to be on our teams. I respect Carolina for having their own great style. I really love the great things they have done up there! CONGRATS!
i cheered at uk (91) and unc (93) and we all know that sticking the routine is a part of the competition...there are times that uk would have lost if another team hadn't had a slip. uk also has a community college that allows people that can't get into uk to cheer. not to mention the scholarships. that being said, uk has been the most consistent program in the country. (much of it is because of the above.)
if you gave unc the same advantages, they would be just as competitive as any other school in the country. what they have done - especially under don collins - is amazing.
even thought the difficulty is through the roof right now...i think it is boring. it is the same routine repackaged over and over. there is little innovation or choreography.
watch mater dei high school from 1997. nothing hard, but really to watch.
unc had the girls dancing, great choreography and great transitions. fun
Umm, UNC Chapel Hill has always had a STRONG cheerleading program! I'm sure they beat UK! They are 2 time National Champions. One of the first programs to win at UCA and NCA! The state of North Carolina has a strong cheerleading history just like Texas and Kentucky. North Carolina State University has won 4 National Titles! Go Pack!
