I bet you the reason Jack wasn't at this year's oscars was because his ego was bruised by Heath's portrayal of the Joker. Jack owned that role, and Heath ripped it from him and took it to new heights, and Jack couldn't handle it. He was not going to be there and be part of him being recognized.
Jack Nicholsons look was by far incomparable. No wonder Heath did a great job but twice in ths trailer he laughed brilliantly. He should have done it more in the film but his role was a bit darker than JN's...I will miss this laugh.

Yea, Nolan says he wants to take The Joker back to what he was in the comics... more of a gruesome character, rather than a comical one like in the original batman movie with Jack Nicholson. Dont get me wrong, I love the original and I love Nicholson's portrayal of The Joker, but I think it'll be interesting to see what Heath Ledger does with the role and where Nolan takes the character... I can't wait for it to come out...
Director Christopher Nolan has said that this portrayal will be inspired by the character's first two appearances in the comics more so than The Killing Joke.
I just hope that unlike most of this posting, the film's not all about the joker. Life as the batman takes it's toll on our protagonist too. Lets hope there's plenty of that in it.
That, coupled with minimal use of CG, a much more colour drained style of shooting and non themed score with seriously dark resonance to it gets me pretty excited. Very credible, cool stuff.
The at-a-glance ridiculous characters with a grounding in reality that offers us almost realistic backgrounds and believeable catalysts for their being (for example, the tiny subsection in "Begins" with the 10'000 faulty bat-masks that gives us an insight into just one of the many complications of being the Batman).
I think that since then, the audience that has grown up with those movies, especially fans with some comic appreciation, will agree that this series of films are quite successfully giving us a sense of what we get from the Batman comic books;
To really appreciate this one you'll have to forget Nicholson's performance in 89... or at least put it into context; Though I LOVED him when I first saw Batman the Movie on the big screen, I have to add that I was twelve years old and very susceptible to the crazy-comic-book villian presented back then. (Nicholson's also generally really good in most of his performances).
Well I don't wanna speak too soon, but Ledger seems to really catch the essence of the joker from the comics. I just hope his character is not built up too much on one liners and manic laughs as the trailer would lead us to believe. Judging by the previous movie, I think there's gonna be a lot more to this than we're seeing here.
This is more than a Batman movie. This is the first movie that will show the Joker the way he was originally created: homicidal and nihilistic. It shocked me at first that Heath Ledger is Joker, but hey, thats why they direct movies and I post comments on YOUTUBE.

I'm actually quite disappointed with this new take on the Joker. This is just a killer with some lipstick on. I enjoyed watching the deformed, insane joker who always saw humor in every crime he committed and who's goal in life was to make Gotham city die with a smile.

I cant believe you all like this OH MY GOD!.Its the same as the other one, effortlessly bad. The Joker looks like a homeless person. That line "then you're gonna love me", disgraceful. Though I think the one true joker will always be Mark Hamill, even if Jack Nicholson got to be the joker first, Mark Hamil,even if it's just is voice,was able to give the joker a gut-renching creepiness that no one's come close to.

batman begins is one of my favorite movies in the past number of years, period. i have a ton of confidence this wont disappoint. as for people saying heath is the best joker, i hope so but lets wait and see, jack as the joker was TERRIFIC..one of his best roles ever dont forget

and yeah jack nicholson was a great joker...but i like how they are making heath ledger more sinister and evil like he should be...really excited about this...spiderman would have been better if it was more like these movies

I knew Heath's performance would be unique. To cast a pretty boy like him, Nolan would have to be 100% confident he could pull it off, otherwise they wouldn't even consider it.
It's so weird, because it doesn't SOUND like Heath Ledger. I would totally swear it was someone else's voice.

Yea, Nolan says he wants to take The Joker back to what he was in the comics... more of a gruesome character, rather than a comical one like in the original batman movie with Jack Nicholson. Dont get me wrong, I love the original and I love Nicholson's portrayal of The Joker, but I think it'll be interesting to see what Heath Ledger does with the role and where Nolan takes the character... I can't wait for it to come out...

Director Christopher Nolan has said that this portrayal will be inspired by the character's first two appearances in the comics more so than The Killing Joke.

That, coupled with minimal use of CG, a much more colour drained style of shooting and non themed score with seriously dark resonance to it gets me pretty excited. Very credible, cool stuff.

The at-a-glance ridiculous characters with a grounding in reality that offers us almost realistic backgrounds and believeable catalysts for their being (for example, the tiny subsection in "Begins" with the 10'000 faulty bat-masks that gives us an insight into just one of the many complications of being the Batman).

To really appreciate this one you'll have to forget Nicholson's performance in 89... or at least put it into context; Though I LOVED him when I first saw Batman the Movie on the big screen, I have to add that I was twelve years old and very susceptible to the crazy-comic-book villian presented back then. (Nicholson's also generally really good in most of his performances).

Well I don't wanna speak too soon, but Ledger seems to really catch the essence of the joker from the comics. I just hope his character is not built up too much on one liners and manic laughs as the trailer would lead us to believe. Judging by the previous movie, I think there's gonna be a lot more to this than we're seeing here.

This is more than a Batman movie. This is the first movie that will show the Joker the way he was originally created: homicidal and nihilistic. It shocked me at first that Heath Ledger is Joker, but hey, thats why they direct movies and I post comments on YOUTUBE.
