  • The "mad hatter" thing was from before Lewis Caroll - people who worked in hat factories got mercury poisoning from the chemicals they worked with, which slowly sent them insane - mad hat makers... So the mad hatter wouldn't necessarily have worn a hat - he was just the guy who made them.

  • ooooooo Manson! i love him! as i heard on girl say he gives me a girl boner! ;D he is actually coming out with a new album called “Born Villain”

  • He's wrong about the Mad Hatter not having a hat and Alice not wearing a dress. Lewis Carroll worked closely with the illustrator John Tenniel. I'm sure if Lewis Carroll didn't want Hatter to be hatted or Alice to be in a dress, he would have rejected the illustrations.

  • ilook up to this guy sooo much, intelligence and creativity!

  • SUBTITLES IN SPANISH PLEASEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Chuchinha7 yes! pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeee!

  • This man is SO right about the music industry. -.- Geeze.

  • YOU DID IT!!! You dummy!

  • Lewis Carroll shits on MM

  • i know this is a stupid quetion but can someone tell me the latest on this movie

  • @TheSexychain

I don't think anyone really knows about that :( All I know is that when eat me, drink me came about, he said that was his first priority, then the Hollywood writers strike happened and delayed things even further. I hope it comes out this year, because I really want to see his film work. I'm pretty big on horror movies, and I think he's going to give us a treat. Lewis Carroll was indeed a strange man, and Manson is the perfect person to bring his life about.

  • @TheSexychain

According to a recent interview with co-writer Anthony Silva, the project isn't dead. Look up "Phantasmagoria: The Visions of Anthony Silva."

  • @zenoalchemist Unfortunately, that's what a lot of people do. He's very intelligent.

  • Прикольно,жаль,что я перевод не знаю

  • Not only is The Hatter not called The Mad Hatter in the book, but there are pictures in the book that show he does have a hat.

That alone I know this person doesn't know what he is talking about because he must have never read the book!!

  • @TheCreatorOf4 well he hasn't read an illustrated version then, or he doesn't let illustrations form the character he sees in his head...

  • @hmmyer I find it hard to believe that there is a version of the books without the illustrations. They were and always have been meant for children, so of course they don't go into detail about how the characters look, it would get boring, so there are pictures.

To ignore those illustrations would be to ignore the author's vision. And if anyone thinks nothing is wrong with that, then they are idiots.

I'll be finding these diaries myself, cause I won't believe a damn thing this guy has to say.

  • @TheCreatorOf4 the author doesnt draw the pictures in teh book. It's the artists interpretation that goes on the pictures, not the authors. If you ignore the pictures, the Mad Hatter isn't ever described as having a hat in the book. It's just his title that made the artist draw him with a hat

  • @dreaminsleepin Allow me to repeat: "they don't go into detail about how the characters look, it would get boring, so there are pictures." Why? "(The book) always (has) been meant for children"

Children do not read novels. They read books with pictures. And when you have pictures, you don't need to write about how they look - they can see for themselves. (Read Chapter 9 The Mock Turtle's story to see the line "If you don't know what a Gryphon is, look at the picture." Author's in-story words.)

  • @dreaminsleepin Also, it is for a fact that Charles worked closely with John while he was drawing the pictures. John would have never been able to envision what he drew.

  • actually, he's called 'the hatter' NOT 'the MAD hatter'.....

  • marilyn manson.....what a cool guy I just love him!!!!!

  • Nothing coming from Manson can convince me... i think i already know too much.

  • dont really like manson, but i love horror and dark imagery. I want to see this movie. The trailer is incredibly dark.

  • Comment removed

  • l.o.v.e

  • I really want to see the movie phantasmagoria *o*

  • He kinda looks like nickolous cage.

  • @CRAXERSNAX9025 fuck no.

  • @botdfmcr i meant for a brief second dont get riled up

  • lewis carrol was a pediphile

  • @bubbah671 Probably true, but it's highly unlikely he ever abused children (Alice held a very high opinion of him well into later life) so it's not a basis for judgement.

  • I haven't enjoyed listening to anything since Holy Wood, but perhaps it's time to check out his latest.

  • he seems very sympathic...

  • Oh....yeah. Manson you are thinking of Disacossiative Personailty Disorder unless you are describing schizofernia in the wrong way. hahahaha.anyway.

  • I admit I like how MM took attention to this but to me it seems his egotisical side is fighting with a side of depression-like symptoms which sort of leaves a person screwed up. Well, I love the thought into this and the research.<3 I really can't wait to hear a new album. I am pretty interested to read Lewis Caroll's diaries now.......maybe I can then make my own opinion.

  • Leave it to him to sort of indulge in the darker aspect of Lewis Caroll and the 'Caroll Myth'. it is very interesting and something exciting to research on and all. I love the part of Eat Me Drink Me that had both of the relations to Alice in Wonderland and Lewis Caroll yet I still think of it as an innocent story up front. Maybe LC was a little screwy and subconciously was dwelling on pretty dark and fucked up emotions and desires but really I am prepared to let it pass.

  • This is the Marylin Manson we know and love :)

  • Smart. He is a true genius.

  • The way he moves is awkward. Like his limbs are too large for him or something.

That being said, I enjoyed this interview. =] I only recently read "Alice in Wonderland". Pretty ballin'.

  • hi is to fucking smart to be so misunderstod of all this years

  • a good friend told me once, words are poor message carriers, but some words in the right context can resonate so powerful in others that open now frontiers in other people's minds. MM's words once did this to me.

  • wth is wrong with that camera man. has he never held a camera before?

  • @prettylilblackheart LOL...he's fucked up

  • He has def done his research. Love Marilyn Manson

  • Pély Barna!

  • I love marilyn manson, but where are his eyebrows?

  • @JnL471 he only just started keeping his eyebrows & not shaving them off. he hadn't had eyebrows 4 years be4 now. where hav u been?

  • dont judge anyone by there looks, if you do... then ill send you to heaven... and thats not a good thin

  • He seems so insecure.. With the whole wrapping of the jacket

  • eat me drink me is my fav album! not by lyrics of course...

  • i love mariliyn manson but skytsifrania doesnt mean split personalities even though i cant spell it

  • honestly, hes way more laid back and normal than most of Hollywood. He just doesn't try to appeal to everyone and wants to express himself. We live in America, anyone should be able to express themselves how they want.

  • i'm your number 1 fan

  • Lewis Carrol was a very interesting man and his books proved how creative his mind was.. He also had tons of child porn but...

  • Boooring! Too much "he's scary, like me" type of commentary. It's funny and a bit pathetic. He's so stepped down the pedestal for me.

  • "Emerging out of a black hole."

In theory, nothing can escape the gravitational pull of a black hole, unless it can travel faster than the speed of light. Which again in theory, nothing can travel faster than light. So that metaphor stands out for me. Good for him for making what he wanted to make.

  • @Pow3rFaLL I'm not claiming to understand that, but it cracked me up to see the sophistication that usually lacks any kind of appearance on Manson videos. Nicely done. I mean, I LOVE Marilyn Manson, but the people who usually comment never say much. When they do, it usually amounts to this: "Fuck yeah, Manson rules."

  • Comment removed

  • i love lewis carrol. I never noticed that the characters weren't described

  • Marilyn Manson is probably one of the MOST intelligent people ever. And, his voice is wonderful(:

  • @BriBearDisaster è sicuramente una delle persone più intelligenti di sempre e il suo è quel timbro di voce che potresti ascoltare per ore e ore sono d'accordo con te

  • @TheSallyalex I don't speak that language

  • @BriBearDisaster sorry i'm italian girl i just would say your words are very good about manson sorry for my horrible english kiss

  • @TheSallyalex oh(: It's fine. But, thank you.

  • I wanna read his diaries now... sounds like it would be interesting.

  • Well, "mad as a hatter" came from the fact that hatters used to make felt hats with mercury, and afterwads got mercury poisoning, which generally leads to insanity.

  • hw is frm florida

  • this man's a genious...and thats all i got to say bout that

  • where is he from, i'm just wondering?

  • @TheMas515 canton ohio ..like me =] arent i lucky lol

  • With 37 Illustrations by the Author <~ about covers it.

  • He very much likes the sound of his own voice I feel, which is funny because his last offering was such utter shit.

  • Lewis Carroll was also a pedophile

  • @Nindoriel hence the fact of the mad hatter

  • Oh wow. So "smart" he couldn't keep his shit together and be a more mature and responsible husband. Dita was right for leaving this bastard.

I used to like this MM guy when I was 17 to 19 year old.

  • Marilyn Manson, Lewis Carroll

  • You don't have to be smart to get basic FACTs correct.

"Lewis Carroll" illustrated the original ALICE very well.

She was NOT blonde however she is very well DRAWN.

  • @RAINRIEN "Lewis Carroll" didnt illustrate his books, John Tenniel did..and he drew them the way he saw them, not Carroll.

  • Dear Dear,

You just need to do some BASIC RESEARCH

The very FIRST ALICE books were hand-written

and ILLUSTRATED by the author. Lewis Carroll (1832-1898),

Alice Liddell, its ten-year-old heroine, begged him to write it out for her,

but had to wait two years until she received this beautifully hand-written

little volume, with Dodgson's own charming illustrations, entitled

    Alice's Adventures Under Ground.

John Tenniel, Arthur Rackham, and countless others have illustrated published material.

  • luposcorro95

just google :: Alice's Adventures Under Ground

which is the original TITLE of Alice in Wonderland

and you can see the Charles D. Illustrations for

    Yourself.

    PEACE. RAINRIEN

  • LOOK UP Alice's Adventures Under Ground for the ORIGINAL Charles D. = Lewis Carroll Illustrations :: The WHOLE ORIGINAL STORY may be found at the Project Gutenberg Alice's Adventures Under Ground: Being a facsimile of the original Ms. book afterwards developed into "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland"

  • You don't have to be smart to get basic FACTs correct.

"Lewis Carroll" illustrated the original ALICE very well.

She was NOT blonde however she is very well DRAWN.

  • This is typical..the more famous or weird u become, the more controversial u r........people just afraid of being unique....cause they have LIMITS.

  • He's actually wrong when he said that the Mad Hatter wasn't even described to be wearing a hat. In the court, the King tells the Hatter to take off his hat so obviously implying that he was wearing a hat.

  • This made me change my mind about Marilyn ;o

I actually have so much respect for him now, I regret judging him by his looks.

  • @zenoalchemist

    Lol, FAAAAAAAAAG

  • @firelord9000 Stfu J Dog :)

  • @zenoalchemist

    Oh my :O

  • @firelord9000 oh my jdog!

  • @zenoalchemist

I totally agree, when I am judged by someone for my "preppy" style by a girl that has goth style I just laugh.

I never did comment on her looks, I just tried to find out what kind of person she is, not her clothes.

  • @zenoalchemist Amen, brother.

  • @mejwyn sister* :)

  • @zenoalchemist Sister* Excuse me >_>

  • GOD I'm in love with him.

  • this makes me want to re-read alice in wonderland. i read it in, like, second grade and i didn't really soak it up.

  • Marilyn Manson is one of the smartest, most misunderstood artists on the planet!

  • @LaLapinNoir Sorry, I have yet to hear an intelligent thought or lyric from this man. He's marketed for shock value, and he's marketed to appear "misunderstood," but he's about as genuine as the fake laughs of the 60-somethings who are still making fart and stripper jokes on the Howard Stern show.

In other words, this is an old-ass dude whose schtick was tired and boring 15 years ago. Who the fuck buys Marylin Manson albums or still considers him relevant? It's insane.

  • @LaLapinNoir Yes I agree 100% <3 :]

  • @LaLapinNoir True sooo true :(

  • @LaLapinNoir I so agree!! I really wan,t to meat him, and talk with him.. That would be awsome..

So many jugde the book by it,s cover...

  • he's just GENIOUS

  • Fuck you dude nobody is asking for your Ty conseded opponions on some guy you don't know, I dont care if it's him or lady gaga keep your god damn opponions to your self it's just having some damn desonsy

  • What a fag. Dude is 41 years old and still dressing and acting like a 14-year-old goth-obsessed cunt.

I want to meet him so I can punch him in the mouth.

  • @GozerTheGozerian i'm sorry he doesn't meet your standards, jackass

  • its funny to see him old fat and going bald but still keep worshiping him lol

  • He's immature. He looks like a rebellious teenager. He's 40 year old already. Grow up.

  • @owjysv wow, the only child in the room is you. Why does he need to be a reflection of what you believe he should be? He is an individual, that is smarter than either of us could pretend to be, and will never apologize for being HIMSELF.

  • @happykorn ... be more realistic. He is indeed immature as he is smart.

He even admitted it himself "I am too immature for Dita".

  • he is old ...and intelligent

  • He's smart. But he's pretty ugly. ಠ_ಠ

  • What album was this interview from?

  • @AllAmericanNINJ4 eat me drink me

  • mason rocks

  • I love the interviewers that ask him the real questions. He definitely puts the nitwits in their place though, which is pretty entertaining as well. You can tell the real interviewers because he isn't such a smart ass with them.

  • He has beautiful hands <3

  • interesting inteview, im looking fwd to the film

  • Every asshole now thinks that he can direct. Fuck him.

  • @Garpalt And you can? When is your new movie coming out George Lukas?

  • @Garpalt He can direct, have you seen any of his work? He's not about the money, he's about the art. Asshole, you dont deserve to even think about commenting on a video with the most minuscule amount of his work in it.

  • and in 2008 he got a sex change, and changed his stage name to lady gaga and we all love that girl. XD

    jk love you MM

  • if ya dnt fuckn appriciate marilyn manson then dnt fuckn comment!

  • what a faggot

  • @FoxEncore I'm assuming you're referring to Marilyn Manson, the man who gets more tail than you'll ever get?? Dita Von Teese, Rose McGowan, Evan Rachel Wood.....yeah, game over for you.

  • hes a weird looking motherfucker!!! he looks like Snape!!

  • @gravityhammer25 your mom lol

  • my mom? how old are you 2 your a faggot my mom looks nothing like marylin manson you fucking retard shes not even white but im sure your mom looks like this dumpy ass mother fucker marilyn manson!!!!!!

  • @gravityhammer25 LOL, your EZ. The fact that "that" even offended you. "Your mom" isn't that offensive. The fact that your so pissed about it proves that you lack maturity. It was only a joke.

  • @gravityhammer25 if you dont like his look then dont go to his videos he dosnt need u to see his things when there are people who support him and enjoy his look and music

  • very interesting, he's so intellgent that it makes me want to watch it over and over agian just to hear him explain his pov of Lewis Carroll

  • his are ment to be sell to angry teenager but he cna also have deep criticism in reading and people

  • ok i love marilyn manson but SMART?? uhm sorry but no. He's not dumb or stupid or anything but hes like average. But his songs are amazing and good but hes not like smart other than music.

  • @ilovecoalchamber126 Yes SMART. He is a critical thinker. On top of being artistically talented. So in this way, he is smart. Since you are not critical thinker, which would mean you are average, can't grasp it. It's not him who is lacking, it's you

  • @splicedenergy Strongly agreed.

  • your way to obsessed with Lewis... its getting OLD... move forward now please...

  • is she or he or shemale?

  • @uSee218 gtfo

  • @darkraven2116 How about you shut your Hairy Pussy just like your mom you fucking slut.

  • @uSee218, thats.. mean :(

  • @annie123q1 i'm not mean but just some bitch ass whore trying me :]

  • i wanna read his diaries! ahh! and again i love marilyn. he is so smart and amazing

  • excellent- he's so articulate

  • Manson said in an interview was about how he's so raunchy in his music before that's his way to get his point across, but if you notices he's very different in interviews. Such intelligent words and subtly. :3

  • i love him

  • Wow! A celebrity who can express himself!

  • continued. Ex. Chapter :the Mock turtle's Story, "If you don't know what a Gryphon is, look at the picture". Search Alice in Wonderland original pictures in google. You'll see that the image of Alice portrayed by Disney if taken from these and the blond in the cute little dress if not concocted by Disney.

  • Uh... I don't agree w. some things he said. Like how we don't know the mad hatter wears a hat. In the chapter "Who Stole The Tarts" the King asks the Hatter to remove his hat. Therefore he is obviously wearing one. And the whole thing of Alice not being describe, I agree she isn't. But Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is a childrens book that originally contained pictures. The pictures are even referred to in the text.

  • He so articulate and intelligent. I love listening to him.

  • my hair looks exactly like that!

  • sorry to hear that

  • @makeumybitch psshhhh

  • Fucking camera guy needs to keep it straight.

  • brian touched me at one of his shows !

  • @mywilly11 hahaha it's people like you who make him look bad.

  • @sanibel03 Ha what?,Dont you believe me?

  • @mywilly11 hahaha yes im just saying it makes him look bad. people will take that sexually and think he fornicated with random people. and i love how i have to say "@ mywilly"

  • @sanibel03 Ha your so crazy ! I ment it in a sexual way Ha ha ha

  • @mywilly11 i know that's what you meant and so you make him look bad.

  • I'm not a huge fan of his music coz it's not really my kind of thing, but I'd really love to meet him coz i'd love to just sit and have a pint with him and talk about stuff.

  • @ciaracustard yea hes fuckin smart ass hell

  • i love youuuuuuuu marilyn

  • he sounds VERY well read - I like that.

  • g mas boy?

  • "did you say something"?"

    *pauses awkwardly*

    "your fucking weird man"

    *whisper's to himself*

" how did he see me?"

  • You couldn't look like he does and find commercial success and not have some, if not considerable intelligence. There are a lot of faces you can make it with, without possessing a modicum of intelligence, but his is not one of those.

  • You don't need to have a degree to be smart.

  • @MOKO200 natural intelligence would contradict what you say.

  • @oneisi No sir, I support natural intelligence. What I meant by my comment was that there are people who haven't had a secondary education and still done brilliantly in their respective fields. In a sense, my comment was in accordance with natural intelligence. :)

  • @MOKO200 I'm unsure of what I was commenting on.
