I'm sure the creators of this travesty probably got a B+ in their Community College Film class but it's such an awful P.O.S. What the lame people who made this video did to this seminal punk song filled with poetry and angst is the equivalent of adding a laugh track to "No Country For Old Men," "The Road," or "Platoon."
If life continues on earth for another couple billion years, this will still be the worst video every made.
I'm not gonna make a video, either. Not soon, anyway. (I do like Mission of Burma, of course.) Another thing, why can't someone not like something, or hate it, even? What's the big deal? The fact that I don't like this video doesn't mean I don't like the person who made it. It shouldn't be such a big deal. I'm sure some people will read this and not like it. I may even get angry replies. Call me a name, whatever, I can live with that. I mean, come on.
This is one of my all-time favorite songs and I saw them at 930 Club in DC around 20 years ago. However, this is probably the worst video I've seen posted on YOUTUBE. The video is so lame and doesn't evoke the spirit of the song in any way.
Of course, if you participated in the video, or you're family or friends, you'll say it's great but I can't imagine ever seeing a worse video on YOUTUBE.
This is the worst home video ever made and there will never be a worse one for the next two billion years. The only possible rationale for anyone praising the video is they are either one of the morons in the video or a family member or friend.

Yay! Another poorly made fan video, most likely for an HS/College film course, that i'm sure the director will claim has something to do with their "interpreation" of the lyrics.
This is one of my all-time favorite songs and what these no-talent morons do is sacrilege. I'm sure they're doing great things in cable public access.
I remember the first time I heard this song when I was about 19 and I remember the feeling it gave me - it still gives me chills.
No doubt, Michael Azzerad's Our Band Could Be Your Life is required reading to learn about some of the most essential bands from the 80's alternative scene. the title comes from a Minutemen song and the book chronicles other monumental groups like Husker Du, Sonic Youth, Minor Threat, Fugazi and MOB. God, what incredible music they made back then! they remain some of my favorites today. particularly affecting, the DIY attitude of Black Flag, who paved the way for so many others to follow...
@manwithnoname123 I love that book, I got it for 30p.It's unbelievable how many of the bands in that book are overlooked these days. They made incredibly profound music.
@manwithnoname123 Reading that book now. I check out each band as I read about them. Just done with the chapter on Mission of Burma, so here I am! Glad someone else recommends this great book too (:
just to second that comment about "our band could be your life", I'm only 20 and discovered this "genre" if you can call it that, so I bought that book and I now own every album by every band in the book, and Sonic Youth are my fave band ever!!!
too true too true! I was SO glad that they have been able to come back, release cds, play gigs again,etc-a career cut short, then reborn 19 years later-MOB RULES!!
okay, yeah, the video is really annoying.. but at least they had the good taste to play Mission of Burma, right? God, talk about criminally overlooked - this band rules! Vs. was certainly one of my fave recordings from the '80's...
The people in this vid should be fed face first into a wood chipper-to associate your lame ass bullshit with genious not of your making is just so wrong it infuriates!
you guys should check out the book called "This band change your life"( don't quite remember the title" it's by Michael Azzerad, worth the reading, it also got Sonic Youth and Dinasour Jr in it
It is called "our band could be your life", and it is required reading for any one who cares anything about independent music. It has chapters on Fugazi, Dead Kennedy's, Big Black, Mission of Burma, Minutemen, Minor Threat, and others.
stupid video but i remember this song during my indie rock phase i would always listen to this song before going out and being a punk to the world haha.
Okay, show of hands. Who's read Our Band Could Be Your Life? I just stated the Mission of Burma chapter, and all I had was a copy of Signals, Calls... (don't remember the rest of the title) Good music, but a GREAT book for people like me that were a baby or nonexistant when these bands were out.
Great book, very interesting bios of some great bands. That book was part of the reason I got into Mission of Burma. (Btw the Dinosaur Jr and Sonic Youth chapters are great too)
Yeah I was one the Year Punk Broke, so the book was real helpful. The Dino Jr. and Butthole Surfers chapters are hysterical...from a purely 3rd person perspective of course.
there's an old video, too. called "1991 - the year punk broke" has some real cool stuff in it. dino jr, sonic, babes in toyland, nirvana, etc. but...you prob already knew that.
The Neighborhoods are playing tomorrow night. The Neighborhoods wsg Thinner and Super 400 (yeah!) Ralph's Diner Worcester, MA Dec 15, 2007 9pm - $15 Burma For Burma Benefit w/ Mission Of Burma and The Neighborhoods Sunday, January 20th, 2008 Great Scott 1222 Commonwealth Ave. Allston, MA 02134 $15, 21+, 9PM Doors

Great film man, I really like what you did there. You put the perfect images to the perfect song, bravo. Of course it helps when the song is one like this. This song just sends me to some far off place in my head and I get lost in it like waves. Ask me Jerky Questions! love that line.
Oh wow, a literal interpretation of a song. This is awful.

The name Mission Of Burma, has nothing to do with the actual nation of Burma. It was randomly chosen, with absolutely no intention what so ever.
