Come on !!! I just bought my first Android smartphone made by HTC... And now what ? As long as Google doesn't favor Motorola products over the others, I think the other manufacturers won't get too angry. I want to see what Google does with Motorola.

Come on !!! I just bought my first Android smartphone made by HTC... And now what ? Motorola owners will always get software updates while some old android owners like a friend who has an HTC Wildfire will get stuck to 2.1 . That's not fair... Not to mention some Sony Ericsson phones that can't go beyond 1.8.

If companies stop being so goddamn greedy and instead help ANDROID become more successful by continuing to support the OPEN-SOURCE COMMUNITY, then they have a chance to be just AS GOOD or BETTER than Apple. Motorola suing other Android Manufacturers wouldn't have done them any more good and would've dug their hole deeper.

Well, it was only a matter of time. With this crazy patent war going on, you'd think Motorola would do everything possible to save their own butts from the sheer amount of burns that they're receiving from their customers due to their false promises. I think that right now, Motorola is just trying to play favorites. Either way, Motorola is now Google's bitch.
Either Motorola would've sued Android manufacturers for more patent BS, or they would just have to give in. Well, they did the latter.

Definitely a good thing, especially considering Google will still be operating the Motorola Mobility division as a separate entity. I could foresee this going two ways: Other hardware manufactures jump ship and other platforms grow again, putting the over-saturated Android market in it's place. I could also see them move on and continue with the Android platform as normal due to Google still taking an open approach. Take it or leave it.

I is the HTC Wildefire, and you know what, BIGGEST REGRET OF MY LIFE!
Not on it lasts THREE days! On it lasts 1 and a half days! same for friends and family.
It takes 3 minutes to turn on, It is SUPER noisy!
TOO sensitive even with Sensitivity all the way down!
And comes with WAY too many apps!
Moral of my story DON'T GET THIS PHONE!

Google are just biding their time. Once they have completely monopolized the market and driven all the others out of business, BAM, they will be able to charge what they want for GMail, Picasa and everything else. Today's news is yet more evidence confirming my suspicion. The worst bit is there's no way we can sssSTOP IT! So might as well benefit from it for as long as possible

I like this news because, as you said, google will control both the hardware and software. I don't think I'll buy an android phone until my upgrade time (which is a like a year and a half away) so hopefully by then an awesome android phone will be out.
