This movie would've been a classic if they used the original design for Kataden, I heard somewhere that Frankenheimer regretted not using it.

That being said, I still like this movie. It's suspenseful, has an excellent music score, and has some good scares, but the monster looks really fake in some parts (mostly near the end)

Nothing really happens until halfway through Part 6. That's the point at which it stops being a respectably boring movie about pollution and starts being a hilariously bad horror film with a mutant bear killing people.

i had nightmares about it for years, it was only broadcast once in 1978

scary stuff it was for a young mind

and it still kind of scary today

Saw this in the theater at age 8. How? It was Rated "R"!! One of the advantages of growing up in a very small town, I guess. :) The house was packed.

I appreciate the almost total silence of the first two minutes of screen time. Combined with the mysteriously nondescript imagery, is really creates an alien mood to the film that would be very intriguing...

prophecy is a truly scary horror flick, the grotesque mutants were done by artist tom burman,who also did the horrific cannibal film the beast within, and the 1982 version of cat people

@ladner3000moviebuff Burman is kind of overlooked among make-up effects artists too. I mean, you hear plenty about ohhh Dick Smith, Rick Baker, Tom Savini, Rob Botin, and Stan Winston, .. but not about Burman to often .
