  • thanks man nice

  • I have a question. Lets say i will buy a Professional camcorder and it holds Mini DV, and SD card. if i import it through an SD card will i get the same quality as the Mini DV? because this process is a little complicated..

  • It's so easy... ;)

  • where can i get one of these dv importers?

  • is there a way to do this without that player thing. it costs like 1400 on amazon.

  • @Zetineb001 its a mini dv player, look it up on ebay

  • where do u get the mini dv importer? how much is it, cause i dont want to fuck up my tape heads!

  • @insanedrummer2468 its just a mini dv player. look it up on ebay.

  • My importer is the same camcorder I use to shoot video. Thank you Canon for being amazing!!

  • Or, you need:

    Camcorder with FW400 out

Cable that has Mini Firewire on one end and (depends on your computer) on the other end.

    Capture program, eg dv4l+v4l2+(you choose)

or Windows Movie Maker BEFORE Live (Win7 users, use WMM2.6)

A HDD larger than 500 GB with at least 180 GB free space (or you may need less space if you have used another codec than DV for years and you burn/rip from tape with just a conversion between (yourcodec) and DV)

    LOPED!

  • You can surely just connect the camcorder to the Mac and do it that way cant you? We do that at college with those exact same cameras. Plus Im hoping just the camera works because Ive got a tonne of tapes here to do, and Ive had to buy an adapter for it =S

  • your imac has an extra firewire port mine doesnt.. :x

  • nice slipperd

  • @delusionalsk8 no problem, glad I could help

  • if i had a HD dv camcorder would it import it in HD? also could I import in any editing software?

  • @SimplySmashingPro as for the first question, we are not entirely sure so we will definitely get back to you soon.

For the second question, it depends on the operating system that you have. For instance, if you are on a Mac, you could use Final Cut, iMovie 06-11, etc. If you're on a PC, you would need a different type of firewire cable (as far as we know, PCs don't support 800 firewire cables). Software that support importing would include anything from WIndows Movie Maker to Sony Vegas.

  • @MPITechSupport i think PC's do not support any firewire cable.......

  • @SimplySmashingPro yes it will import standard or high definition footage, either through firewire/iLink or an hdmi port if it has one. Standard MiniDV tapes will also handle HD footage fine, you don't need to waste your money on 'HDV' tapes.

  • @delusionalsk8 I know that now

  • @delusionalsk8 "mini dv deck"

  • thank you very much!!!

  • @skimcty28 thank you for commenting, make sure to like and subscribe please!

  • does the camera have to have a usb port?

  • Where can I buy the importer from?

  • @iLifeSkate look it up on amazon
