doing a NY to Vegas road trip with a friend next year & 66 is a must. coming all the way from England & then not driving atleast part of the way on route 66 would be terrible. this video has made me even more excited than i already was

Me and a friend hope on doing the route hopefully in just a couple of years. A 911 is great fun but to make everything the real deal it just have to be a good old mustang, I just need to to do some checkup under the hood first.
to answer your question jcross21, We started in Las Vegas where my brother bought the car. then we ended in Lafayette Indiana. It is a pretty awesome trip. if your going to do it plan on staying overnigt at the Grand Canyon and be sure to watch a sunset there. Freeking Amazing! They will let you camp along side the road in certain spots {impromptu} but I dont know if i would do that with my daughter.
@HordeFTL get a map from a gift shop and don't rely on the brown road signs as I did... people steal them and you end up in some persons front yard in no time!!.there's loads of gift shops along 66. the route hugs interstates usually but it's where it breaks away from the interstate where you find the most picturesque places , towns, history etc. I hired a car and drove it last year. had such a fantastic trip I'm saving to do it again!
