Sometimes parents use religion to demand certain behaviours from their kids, which is simply a method of control. It is a control issue between the parents and children. When parents don't' have their demands met, they become frustrated and they use arguments of guilt and insults. Parents don't usually accept gay children, and since parents always have a huge influence, that is why these kids are very insecure and prone to have serious emotional ordeals thus contributing to high suicide rate.

The commandment against homosexuality is reiterated in the new testament.
The long debunked myths are that Christians are forbidden to eat shellfish and other commandments from that section of the old testament addressed to Israelites and the Levite priests. Eating shellfish is probably not very good for us, they are scavengers that eat horrible stuff. Pigs as well.
If you're going to take the Bible literally then you can't just pick and choose what you want to follow. Why are there so many fat, lazy Christians when gluttony and sloth are severely condemned? Why are women allowed to teach men when it is prohibited in the Bible? Should there be no women ministers, because women are not allowed to speak in church?
The Bible was written for a specific people and time, and although much of it is still applicable, much is not.
God destroyed two cities for homosexuality. It is an abomination to God, a grievous sin. To attempt to equate sodomy to sloth is the epitome of rationalization.
Perhaps when you get your sodomy issue under control you can address those issues. Good luck.
The people of Sodom surely practised homosexuality long before its destruction, so if homosexuality was the main cause why wasn't it destroyed long before the story in the Bible takes place?

For the same reason that God has allowed the practice of homosexuality for so long in this age. He is merciful. He is giving you time to repent. He does not take pleasure in punishing you for your sins.

Sometimes parents use religion to demand certain behaviours from their kids, which is simply a method of control. It is a control issue between the parents and children. When parents don't' have their demands met, they become frustrated and they use arguments of guilt and insults. Parents don't usually accept gay children, and since parents always have a huge influence, that is why these kids are very insecure and prone to have serious emotional ordeals thus contributing to high suicide rate.

I was brought up in a Catholic family baptized and confirmed but as i grew older i realized that the Bible was really "Black or White" on issues but there are issues in life that i believe are gray. That's when i start believing that the Bible was not really from a divine source but was written by mortal men although well intended it has caused more bad than good.

Am I ashamed of Jesus? Never. I love Jesus and he is fundamental in my life. Am I ashamed of being part of the Christian church? You bet. It's mostly Evangelical Christianity. These are the people who take the Bible literally and live a hypocritical lifestyle.
Ted Haggard for example. He could quote Paul, who said that homosexuals were "worthy of death", but Ted had sex with men on the side.
Methodists and some other Christian sects are laid back. It's Evangelical Christianity that is evil, not gays/lesbians.
My advice? Look into Secular Humanism and leave religion alone.

This is major problem in the Christian community. They are using the bible to support their actions in many cases. I think the best option is that if they dont agree then they should be waiting to support people not running around to condemn and beat them down. History has shown that the bible keeps being misused to support incorrect causes and hatred. IE: Before the 70's it was illegal for Interracial couples to marry and was supported through the bible.
It is the misuse that causes hate.

The bible is our guide to what is sin and what is not in God's eyes. It is what God's Word says that matters.
To become a Christian we must confess our sins to God and ask His forgiveness. We do *not* have the right to say I like that sin, so that part of the Bible is mistaken.

And you need to get an argument that hasn't been debunked for decades. The dietary laws were for the Israelites under the Law. Most all the creatures described as unclean in Leviticus 11 are still not eaten. And even at that time it was never a mortal sin to eat them.
More than likely these meats are not good for our bodies.

So being left-handed is a choice? Now, you COULD use your right hand to do things, but you would "naturally" still be left-handed. Is having blue eyes a choice? I suppose you could pretend you had brown eyes, or even cover them up with brown contact lenses, but you'd still "naturally" be blue-eyed.
Well, it's the same thing with being gay or straight. Your confusion seems to be distinguishing between chosen behavior and innate nature.

God does not change, and His Word endures forever. Those are the fundamentals. If someone doesn't want to believe them that is their choice. If someone doesn't want to follow them that is also their choice. But just like a person cannot eat meat and declare themselves a vegan, you cannot be gay and be a Christian.
I support everyones right to live their own life. I would like for everyone to live forever in heaven, but if they choose not to believe that is their perogative.

I am not an Israelite, so that law does not apply to me. I cannot be more plain. If you are so fascinated with ancient shellfish commandments you would likely get a great answer from a Jewish scholar. It is a part of Jewish history.

B2) If you look though history preachers have always been against adultery. In the 1960s when "free love" was the current sin in the spotlight there was plenty of talk about adultery and fornication. That ship has sailed, but at the time they were warned.
Phelps is just an evil man misquoting scripture. God doesn't "hate fags", he loves them, just as He loves adulterers or any other sinners. But He wants us to stop sinning. Yes us. I am a sinner too. We are all sinners.

The commandment against homosexuality is reiterated in the new testament.
The long debunked myths are that Christians are forbidden to eat shellfish and other commandments from that section of the old testament addressed to Israelites and the Levite priests. Eating shellfish is probably not very good for us, they are scavengers that eat horrible stuff. Pigs as well.

If you're going to take the Bible literally then you can't just pick and choose what you want to follow. Why are there so many fat, lazy Christians when gluttony and sloth are severely condemned? Why are women allowed to teach men when it is prohibited in the Bible? Should there be no women ministers, because women are not allowed to speak in church?
The Bible was written for a specific people and time, and although much of it is still applicable, much is not.

The people of Sodom surely practised homosexuality long before its destruction, so if homosexuality was the main cause why wasn't it destroyed long before the story in the Bible takes place?
