Just tried this, my button works about 3 out of ten pushes, it's now 8 out of ten, so it's improved but still not completely fixed. I think having the button removed and cleaned or replaced would be the full solution. But this little fix has helped. Thanks
Nice one I put a little bit of plastic inside it works a lot better still not perfect but it will do. There are two metal prongs under the button and if you press your button too hard they get squashed down so the contact with the button isn't as good I would sort this but don't no how to get the front of my fone off.
@cameronhoerth the drive is readily available on amazon for aprox 2-3$ check weather u have normal or pentalobe screws another good site is chinaontrade [dotcom]
this video might be right. without opening the phone i apply pressure around the button and it worked instantly. so it looks like it looses connection. this will work
@TheRYANVELASCO why are you crying about it this video is free if it works 4u good if it dosent move on or send it to apple care, But don't spread the negativity inside u
So far, this seemed to do the trick. I've tried all else to no avail until now. You are THE MAN!!! Didn't need the plastic thingy yet, pressure alone seemed to have resolved!!!! I will comment back if happens again but BIG THANKS!!!
@yojo619, just performed the fix, unfortunately my home button has been working perfectly for the last few days, so its hard to tell right now. I ran into some difficulty with my first piece of plastic as it was a little too thick > I finally used some thinner grade material.
I will post back in a few weeks to say how it's going.
Nice tip! I'll be sure to try this out. My home button sucks so bad. I was thinking of unscrewing it and saw the many steps it takes to get to the button itself but decided not to. Now that I know it's a simple press of the back after unscrewing would be worth a shot. I'll comment again if this tip works! :)
Now on my 2nd iPhone 4 with the exact same problem. Same thing happened with first one after six months. 6 months later same again with the replacement.
I've tried all of the other fixes which haven't worked, going to give this a try. Only problem is that the replacement iPhone 4 has pentalobe screws in the bottom rather than standard philips. I believe apple changed these on the newer iphone 4. Just ordered a pentolobe driver on ebay, so will report back when I have tried this fix!
I had the same problem but i just putted soms whisky in it and it works just fine.
So try it. It realy works. :)

@CanoNuevaYork the piece of plastic is inserted to maintain a constant pressure on the home button to avoid the bond coming loose again
