I have skream skreamism vol 2, and on Blipstream you can clearly see how far apart the grooves are for all the bass to fit in. Love vinyl and collecting, and I'm from Kansas USA.
@ToneSpectra both.. the older persons experience can be quite beneficial. But, you dont know how sensitive each persons ears are. I discovered during a work physical, that I max the standard american machine to the max, in dis-believe of the Dr's. This is can prove.
@ToneSpectra damn, its early... lol When I take a hearing test, on a standard American testing machine, I take the machine to the max. The Dr's dont believe it, and have never seen anything like it. I have the test results to prove it.
I think he lost his business due to a partner screwing him a few years back, at the least I was not been able to reach him a couple of years ago, which is a loss to the industry, not only is he a great engineer and an affable chap but he also told the absolutely worst jokes you will ever hear .... non stop
these ppl should try an A-B comparison between a loudness war track and an unmastered at same perceived volume... guarantee they never tried it once....
Think this perfectly illustrates just how open-minded mastering engineers usually are - just well into the music, regardless of what genre it is. From the Beatles to D&B, it's quite a musical leap but he even has the off-beat headnod right! And he knows how to use a VMS80. Badman.

I wish it wouldn't, only because the reason cds suck is because they aren't mastered properly. Likewise, there have been some crappy vinyls. It isn't the format, it's how it's used.
this is so great...this man really knows his craft , I hope he passes it down to an apprentice to keep the vinyl cutting alive! He still has such a strong passion for the whole process even after 30 years in the business!
2001 - The best time to have been listening to DNB. Anyone remember Planet Dust when it dropped? My days.... Big up bad company. Big up Porkys. Nowadays it's all going down hill.
What a great interview of a great human being! The fruits of Porky's labours have been brightening up my life for nearly four decades. And man, doesn't he have a a handle on how the world *should" work!

How does losing top-end as you get older affect decisions? Is it worth asking a younger persion about the treble or just rely on graphic EQ?
