She looked and acted alot like my moms mom. Sadly I never was raised near my grandmother and only met her once that I remember. Watching Corrie helped to fill a void that I have. Thanks Betty.
I had the pleasure of meeting Betty in 1994. We hit it off. She was so down to earth and lovely. I now treasure 17 years of letters and Christmas cards, but I'm too sad to sort them out and put them into an album! The real Betty was just like the TV Betty: warm, vivacious, kind-hearted and terribly funny. The Rovers Return will not be the same again.
Without fail, everytime Betty appeared on the Street, she would make me smile. What a full, long life ... I hope she had the serene and quick end she deserved. She will be missed.
Up there with all the great names of Corrie. Ena, Alf, Milly, Annie & Jack, Elsie to name but a few. There will be a Port & Hot Pot tonight in heaven, God Bless and thanks xx
When she ran the Cock Inn at Whaley Bridge, she often came over as a loud-mouthed ignoramus, especially when she joined the 'Street'. Certainly not as genuine as you might think.
what an amazing lady. RIP the street will not be the same with out you. I do hope the story line that is to end your time in the street is a fitting tribute to all the hard work you have done over the years.
She was a bit of a cow apparently

Very sad, we have lost another Street legend. Rest in peace Betty, at least you are reunited with your beloved sister Freda.
