I didn't like the movie. I'd save the main actor, he is pretty good as Ryo, and the music. Everything else sucks. Many things in the plot were changed too much, it losed the meaning of many things (Ranka, just to name a thing, that isn't sympathetic at all in the movie), the actor that deos Kurokawa is too young, the one that does Sugawara can't act at all and his character was changed too much (he isn't anywhere close to the noble warrior he is in the manga).

There is something I don't get. It is very spoilerific, but if you want to know look at one of the messages marked as "spam". It regards his sister, and it is NEVER mentioned in the manga anywhere to my knowledge. (I think the movie just wanted to make things more confusing.)

Ryo is probably the least likeable protagonist I have ever seen in a manga. I find it amazing that not only was I caught up in the story, but the character developed in such a way that I actually felt sympathy and even admiration towards him. That's one hell of a writer who can make a violent, parent-murdering rapist into a hero.

Actually I got to say that a few of the characters look a little bit different than their manga counterparts for example Kenji Kurokawa looked a LOT older in the manga.

The good part is at the very least they act like the characters. Kenji was a no nonsense bad ass teacher in the manga and he's the same in the movie.
