@NatsumiLuvAnime basically it is when you mic will not pick up the sound because it was too loud for what it's sensitivity is at. Clipping is distortion and can sound like a punch to the mic or just nothing at all if it is loud enough.
Clipping still occurs, even at 12.9 amplification. The Loudness War movement in music production destroys dynamic contrast and replaces it with heavy clipping that distorts heavily. I would suggest limiting to 6 DBS at the very most, even that may be a bit too much in comparison to the original waveform, certainly a loss of detail in the music occurs.
why would you put the limit on the lowest peak? you've maximised the loudness, but you've totally shot the dynamics to pieces...why not use moderate compression then hard limit at 0db before amplifying to prevent clipping?
at 0:20 you'll see the the number you are suppose to use (highlighted in green), it indicates the db volume at that point. by set it to the peak, I meant use the db value you saw at the highest peak of the selection, peak being the highest point of a waveform.
hard limiting just fucks up the audio.

It's nice of you to post this, but it isn't necessary anymore. Instead:
1. On the Effects menu, click NORMALIZE. The "Normalize" dialog box appears.
2. Leave the settings as-is, and click OK.
3. Audacity identifies your soundfile's highest point and boosts the file's volume as much as it can without distortion.
4. Re-save your file.
Cheers, Z.

At 0:59 you say set it to the peak but I didn't know it was suppose to be negative.
