yeah let's all homeschool our children, and teach them creationism and the bible... what a bunch of bullshit, homeschooling is one of the worst things you could do. there is a reason why the "government" controlls what goes into the textbook, and thats what is valid and not what people want to think is valid. of course the government shouldn't decide this anyways, but professionals on the field which is taught. science by scientists, and history by historians and so on

What choice do poor parents have? They cannot afford your 1st choice of private schools. They can't use your second choice of home schooling because both parents have to go out and work. Therefore you are saying that poor parents have only your 3rd option of abandoning their education. I guess you also believe poor people should not have children.

@moominpug Yes few can afford both private tuition & the compulsory taxes to support GovSkul (which spends 2-6 x's per pupil private tuition).

Homeschool is cheaper but still a huge sacrifice. Most homeschoolers I know are poor but none would exchange the richer relationship with their children for the easier path. They are amazed that they don't see the alienation and rebellion that's so common. There's much help available in the homeschool community. Reach out, connect, then defund GovSkul

Email me privately, if you're poor and honestly want to know how poor people can educate their children without abandoning them to the state. I can share my experiences and I can help you connect with other homeschoolers to see what it's like. There's most likely co-opt help available to you. If you love your children enough, you will find a way. But you have to love them more than money.

#3 comment. "poor should not have children"? The BEST families I know are huge and poor by TV commercial standards. They are rich in love and concern for their children and there are no better adjusted children. Don't let corporations define what you "must" have.

Children don't need your money as much as they need your love. I know poor single mothers who don't abandon their kids to the state. It's hard but it's worth it.

Most Americans love comfort and ease more than they love their kids.

@decay1861 I guess you have never known true poverty in this country. It is impossible to get completely out of it. Yes, you can tell me a story about one or two amazing people who did, but they are the exception to the rule. I don't see how a huge family can afford to have one stay home to teach, if the other does not have a very high paying job, there will be no home, food, etc. You must have had mommy and daddy pay your way through the system and then helped out with first car, job, home..

If so, you need to educate yourself about what you can do and find others (other than the government) who are willing to help. They're there.

The point wasn't to hold up these four men as paragons of virtue but to show 1) some of the most successful men of the 20th century weren't educated by the government but by their family at home and 2) tie it in to the next point that these homeschooled generals, their army & the American people with an average 8th grade education beat the Nazis who had championed government schools and youth brainwashing.

@RequiemForChange I thought your video was very, very good. Very disturbing images of police brutality. My only criticism, for future vids, would be to make the intro shorter. At 13 minutes it's long but if you got to the action, to the compelling images of police brutality sooner, I think it would hold people to end. Did you film the swat team going into the kindergarten and house? Very well done.

I would homeschool if I could but since I can't I have my kids in a private school. It angers me that I have to pay for the public school as well as private school but when I watched your video it reassured me that I was doing the right thing.

@nordsetrm Glad to hear that. The most important thing is that you're involved with your child's education, know what they're being taught and why, and have the power to vote with your feet. Since government schools cost on average about twice what private schools cost, everyone would be better served if parents had vouchers and/or taxpayers could get tax credits for money given to children as scholarships/education donations. Let the gov put it's money where it's mouth is on education.
