That was cool!! Maybe as a requirement at these comps they should have the practitioners actually hold a glass or bottle of alcohol and see how much they spill!! LOL Whoever has spilt the least and has drunk the most gets extra points or something!! Also I've always thought that Jackie Chan's Drunken fist was pretty good as well!!
I'd guess the Shaolin came up with it as a joke... not all the Shaolin monks, more like one guy was all, "Check this out!" and they just added cool and funny looking moves from there.
It's obviously got no real martial art value, so it's probably more of a training tool than anything... 'cuz that guy was limber as hell.
man u dunno the style... drunken style moves r unpredictable. most thnk he has lost his balance but he s always ready for a nice blow. its one of the most powerful style n kung fu. and also very beautiful. i knw t cus i was a monk for 7 years. believe me
hmm...maybe...but it is cool when used in a fight. The guy is in a performance so the moves are a lil bit slow and he uses few atks, but check out the Jackie Chan movie, idk, maybe u may have an idea of how it can be used in a true fight :/ - afterall you will be able to see how it affects the oponents- (it's worth to check out)!
In "true fight" it sure doesn't look like Jackie Chan movie. It looks just about like every other fighting style - no flipping and clowning around, just simple, practical moves.
The form is just a training method, it's not how you fight.
You don't drink for this style but after practicing it a lot you probably will. After all those falls, especially as you get older you need something to for back pain, etc aka alcohol
I love the drunken style, fun to watch, obveously difficult, and obveously effective. this is the best I've seen yet, most generally act like they're drinking, but not drunk, this is great

juanbrujo12345 5 years ago
probably the shaolin monks didn't came up with it but used it(not by drinking alchohol, but water) as a higher level skill.
its probably a style that exist over a milenium

Yeah, it's all about deception. To be good at suiken, you have to be a good actor as well.

i would say learn some wushu...first because you need to be very flexible..
proabably takes years upon years to even get basics..
training etc.. you need to be very, very strong in the abdominal region..
