Hey you know what ppl .... since we're North Americans, we should be just concentrating on our OWN Native American Indian customs and traditions!! What makes anyone else's customs and traditions in the world any less expendable than our own?? Forget about others' ways and just concentrate on the beauty of what's in our own backyard!! What is it with all this?? Why must ppl always focus on other ppls' ways rather than looking at what's in their own backyard FIRST?? I think that makes sense!
I seen at my mates school's kapa-haka a guy team vs. a girl team doing the kamate haka against each over, and that shit felt powerful az! It was hard out when the guys started, but when the girls came back and overpowered them - that was amazing! Dont know anyone that videod it tho
I'm a girl who plays rugby, and this really wouldn't be that intimidating. What's scarier is when they just glare at you without saying anything for a few minutes, it's so freaky.
Yeah i'm a girl playing rugby aswell. And i can tell that this was a bit intimidating..because u can't see the faces that they are pulling. And u can't see the actual size of some of these girls
but i do agree the men perform it better cuz it shows their masculinity, whereas dis team cud have dun it in a more better way like slapping their elbows n wrists n thomping thier feet to show power etc, they just luked wierd
women do not perform haka the same way as men - their permitted actions are different - this was performed in accordance with permitted rules. They did a great job! Kia kaha nga wahine toa
Many haka are performed exclusively by men which has sometimes led to the misconception that only men may perform haka. However there are a minority of haka which are performed predominantly by women, one of the most well-known women's haka being "Ka Panapana". In many haka though, the female role, if any, is limited to providing support by singing in the background.
Women were strongly involved in the traditional origin of haka.
maybe i'm wrong but i think that can be "disonerable" for a kiwi,i remember that only men can performe the haka (ok this is not the original but it's the same thing),and the all blacks was for stopping the contract with iveco because there were a fiat commercial while females are doing the haka...sorry for my english
your english is fine! :) But yes you are wrong there are haka specifically for women and this is one of them. The problem with the haka Ka Mate (and that is not "the original haka") being performed by women is that that PARTICULAR haka is not for women to lead alone. They can only participate in THAT haka in support of men. It's not the same for all haka.
Women can do the haka also, as for that commercial, it was how it was done..the haka is done from the heart and if any one has ever done one.. then you'll know how it feels..after doing one.. electrifying
hahahahahaha what a joke

Don't get my comment wrong.
I'm not the most chauvinist guy but, for me, the Haka is best when performed only, or at least mostly, by men.
Alongside with some women, why not, but there has to be more men than women, in the group performing Haka.
