hmmm. Well, the idea is nice to play with. Supercharger has no lag since it's run off the belts but this isn't going to get much power out of the engine at all. You're still losing to any turbo charged SR or KA if you line up. I think the supercharger is better on gas than the turbo charger as well but for power.....still not worth it. Nice idea though. Maybe dual charging is a better idea. No one has done that yet to a KA. Turbo and supercharger
@KakkoiGuy1 What are you talking about? If a turbo sr or ka line up, you're still leaving them off the line. You have instant torque, and as you said; no lag. I believe in the saying HP wins shows and torque wins races.
@AfterShadow Torque winning races is a subjective idea. 1/8 mile races have better times with high torque cars but once you get into 1/4 miles, HP really is a bigger factor. That is why HO v8 in older Camaros had around 300 tq but only about 210hp. They only ran 15's in the quater and I have a BMW 325i with a few bolt ons that runs lower 14's and my car is more top end hp than low end torque. And I have Only have about 200wtq and about 210whp. But torque makes a car more fun to play with :)
It depends, really. It call comes down to two things: money and knowledge. Turbos have been proven time and time again. However, superchargers, when done right, can be just as good. Mersadies have a 1.8 Supercharged motors in their C230s (Pretty sure) for example. Turbos are really cool though, A friend of mine has a twin turbo Fairlady running 700bhp. On pump gas. On "low" boost.
@djskysz depends on what you want...some like the instant reaction to superchargers, but the hp I see from turbos is massive and with tech now you can almost eliminate turbo lag
