Actually, Koreans DO know that certain types of ducks fly perfectly well. What are we, idiots? It's just that the wild ducks are specifically referred to as "chung-dong-oh-ri". It's just plain "oh-ri" in this song, that's all.

For the westerners out there: I recently learned that Koreans think that ducks can't fly. They only know of of their locally domesticated ducks, which like chickens, can't fly particularly well. I found this song confusing (or meaningless since I know ducks can fly) until I realized that Koreans don't know that wild ducks can fly perfectly well.

Ok, my bad. I guess I should have asked a few more Koreans before generalizing. Contrary to what I said before, Koreans know that wild ducks fly well but that domestic ducks don't. When I was asking, in Korean, to check if I had heard right about ducks being unable to fly, I was using the word "오리", which is the word they use for domestic ducks. I just didn't realize that they call wild ducks by a different name, "물오리". Sorry for the confusion.
