I learned this song when it came out, and actually was playing it earlier today. Great song, and the original is played by some of the best that ever played... (Snowy, Gary Moore, Phil) . FOr the young man who posted it, good for you for trying, and practice will make it sound better every day. But some of the critiques, although often too harsh... are correct. You aren't playing the right notes, and your speed is not anywhere near the correct speed. Cmon guys, give this kid a break.
hey man dont worry about the comments from some of these people,i have tried playing this song at the same speed as the record its very fastand it sounds pretty good to me.
You got the right notes ... If you're still into it, I'll post something to give u the right timing ... Loved this riff for ever. (I think "syncopation" is the key word) and yeah, you just gotta play it LOUD - LOL Wouldn't mind the tab for the extra riffy bits too
It is how you play the riff, thats how the tabs were and i don't care if they're wrong it sound right to me. So i'll continue to play guitar as there is alot of hope for me
@peaman94 ur good just the song is faster paced and ur palm muting open notes too much. fuck you AWGMJANS go fuck a sheep and get some talent at something.
I'm sorry peaman94 but if this sounds "right" to you then i have to agree with last comment, i don't think you should give up playing but THAT is not how it is played or how its sounds. for a start you are missing a tonne of key bridge notes.
@pandahamlid the only serious problems with this video is that im not going fast enough and that im palm muting too much. I know its shit, im better at it now, i'll redo this video.
@peaman94 you have the right notes for the main riff but you're stopping the D too abruptly. You have to let that note ring...listen to the original, jam along with it. You'll quickly find that you've got way too much distortion to let that note ring cleanly. But if you back off the gain, use plenty of treble, and let that open D string ring, it'll sound much closer. Keep it up!
ur nearly there, its like ur just missin a note or 2 in a couple of places throughout! keep listening to the song and youll get there!needs to be a bit faster aswel!
I can't remember, i probably did, it might sound weird cus i think its tuned half a step down as i tune my guitar by ear. i got the tab off ultimate guitar where i get all of my tabs, but it has very little thin lizzy tabs

First of all, it's way too slow and you dont block the sounds on the main riff you let them ring out.

if u think this is how u should play this riff. stop playing guitar. There is no hope...

Thats your problem... You should not use tabs for a riff like this. Try using your ears...there is no swing in your playing.

man thats so wrong its scary .. ur a good player but the tab is all wrong
spyke200194 2 years ago
thanks man, it sounded right to me :S plus there isn't much thin lizzy tabs about the internet so it might be wrong.
peaman94 2 years ago
yeah like you play it well but the tab, wherever you got it was pretty terrible .. did you have the ''e'' string in ''d'' by any chance?
