And lindamprb, let me ask you something: how have YOU PERSONALLY contributed to the "solution"? Do you donate your time and money to mental illness organizations? And what is this "solution" you rant and rave about? News flash! There are currently no cures to bipolar disorder, autism, or schitzophrenia. If we did, we wouldn't have butt hurt people like you whining about Psycho Donuts.
lindamprb is a fucking pussy as is everyone else who wastes their time and energy protesting the shop. god when did everyone become spineless wet blankets?
@agropoliusa You're right. I think you should hire a terrorist and blow that shop up! It sounds kinda crazy but somebody must INTENSIFY and make the struggle known!
The suicide drawings, and the mental asylum light paradigm may have missed the mark.
I can't think of anything wild and crazy about suicide. I don't know anyone who was happy when their loved one killed themselves. Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem.
I hope they, the owners, have the faith in themselves and their recipes courage to do the right thing and lose the mental illness stereotypes.
I could point you to a number of restaurants that feature "death by chocolate" and "suicide by chocolate" desserts. I could also point you to any number of hot sauces that you would be equally offended by. You could waste all of your time winging about them.
whoever finds this shop offensive really needs to take the stick out of their ass. its all in good fun, and i am speaking as someone with bipolar and who has family members with several mental illnesses. i hardly see how this is offensive, just america trying to rid itself of creativity, i guess.
I LIVE IN CAMPBELL AND I NEVER WENT HERE! wheres it next to im too lazy to google it, i dont want to love this place and get diabetes. so....dont tell me where it is.
...oh and thanks your the one who prabably came up with the idea of WINTER FESTIVAL (x-mas) and HARVEST FESTIVAL (halloween) .....thanks for that! Go ruin your own life...not ours with your victom bulls%it!!!
........by the way donut fry's best idea ever! what a riot!!!
i hate people like lindamprb....can we scream victom anymore....whine whine whine* America is turning into these kinda people everyday.... its shocking how much affends them...i do like that these people come-off like this right away though mostly when you first talk to them... its good becasue i can run!!! who even says stuff like that! let me call WHINE WHINE one poh baby!
I think a nice little bistro called "The Jewish Bakery" would be neat. I like the idea of "Extra Crispy Bread" or "Holocaust Cookies" would sell well. What do you think? Make it bicoastal. This would work great in NY

This is not a random comment. I am outraged for myself and my family. Ignorance about other people's disabilities is excusable, but this level of insensitivity is not. On behalf of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, we are making people aware of this type of thing that contributes to the stigma people face while in treatment and recovery. It's no different from a store making fun of someone who is paralyzed.
What do you want to see? Name change? Is that going to remove the "stigma"? I'm afraid to be the one to break this to you, but that stigma was around way before Psycho Donuts and it'll be around way after too. If you don't like what they are doing, then go get your donuts somewhere else. I personally have been battling depression on and off for the past 10 years and don't feel the least bit offended or intimidated by the name of this establishment, if anything it's the best comfort food ever!
If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem. Everyone's actions have a ripple effect - ever heard of the Butterfly Effect? If you don't care about your personal impact on the world and have no personal standards, then go ahead and eat yourself silly.
The mental hospital theme, padded room, the nurse outfits, and the donut names corresponding to illnesses have to go. I can find something to eat just as good somewhere that isn't offensive.
Here's an idea why don't you start your own donut franchise and give all the donuts boring, safe, politically correct names like "fluffy goodness" and "sweet treats" or something lame like that. You can have all your boring PC friends come over and you can talk about the virtues of breathing. Unless that somehow offends the molecules in the air.
limpamprb - sorry, but the Butterfly Effect says that the effect of even small changes on a complicated system are UNPREDICTABLE; you are pretending to the Amazing Ability to See Dire Consequences... not at all compatible with the Butterfly Effect.
Please look these things up before trying to look smart.
You missed the point, probably due to brain fog caused by too many sugar/fat laden empty calories. You don't know what you don't know. Look that one up.
Sorry, but if you were to do two minutes worth of reading on the subject, you'd realize that you've made your exceedingly weak "point" even less impressive by referencing some basic chaos theory without understanding it.
So what's next in the line for tasteless business names - Cancer Cookies? Paraplegic Pasta? Anyone with a family member with a brain injury or disorder will find this business name and their products extremely insulting. If you have ever experienced or visited an in-patient hospital for people who are extremely mentally ill, you will know it's not the least bit funny. I can't believe anyone would be so mean and imagine that being hip.
Mmmm... Cancer Cookies sound great. Is there peanut butter involved? While we're at it, lets lynch Aerosmith and Gnarls Barkley for singing a songs called "Crazy." Ridiculous, I challenge you to bring the people who this name might offend (autistic, down syndrome, schizo, manic, etc) down to the donut shop and see if they have a problem with it. I hate it when people are always outraged on the behalf of another social group. But if you were to approach that group they could care less.
Do they have an electroshock therapy microwave oven? That would be cool! I could go in an relive the hell I was going through during that time of my life.
You think this is "neat-o" and the place is successful. It's only a matter of time. With success comes fame, with fame comes the many people finding out how horrible this is. It won't take long.
