the word religion means 'a set of ideals or beliefs.' If you believe that there /isn't/ a god, it is still technically a religion. I, personally, avoid religion in an /organized/ fashion with rules and such. There is a difference between religion in the basic sens and organized religion.

the whole "I'm spiritual but not religious" thing is usually just a copout for people who are not willing to commit to something. It's like "Yeah, I believe in God but I don't believe that I should have to go to Mass on Sundays for one hour to honor Him."
