  • love the kewl new additions to the channel!

  • @NappyDva hey thanks! Summerbabi and Mark are no longer contributors on this channel, but they are linked on my channel page if you want to check out their videos

  • Your styles were very creative. I am looking forward to see what you are going to do next. They also are very cute on you. Thank you sooooo much

  • For the first time ever I've done the wash and go with no retwisting (partly cuz I'm lazy :-(..) so I was looking for styles to do to shield the new growth till I retighten again. My locs are long and thick so this should be interesting. Summerbabi...I love ur accent!!

  • i love it with the bang and the flower on the side it's so cute! i have a random question about locs: is it possible to cut off the ends once the locs have matured so it looks more neat, more clean? or will it compromise the locking process? thnks for answering...

  • @logikgirl12 if the loc isn't mature it will most likely unravel. you should avoid cutting your locs until they are fully loc'd from root to tip. if your ends aren't neat, i'd suggest pall rolling them to help smooth them out and make them more uniform. but at the end of the day, patience is the best ingredient :)

  • love this video.. it helped

  • This is a great tutorial! Thanks for sharing.

  • I like this...because I don't like to use a lot of pins and bands....thank you

  • Easy-breezy, practical tips!

  • Ilove it!!!! Crochet flower and all! :D Thanks

  • thanks summerbabi I am trying this style today...I love love love Chescalocs but my hair is more your length so I love the idea of more "corespondents" with different hair length tutorials!

  • Cute styles! Your locs are so thick and luscious...they look good at that length.

  • I love LOVE love it! After not paying any attention to my hair - too busy chasing after babies, this is so refreshing and DEAD easy to do. Well done and thank you!

  • @ChockeyMe so gold this was helpful...i know i have more hat hair days than anything else so i had to work out some styles for my ever present, not so presentable hair days

  • thanks for the tut! its always nice to see styles that i can do with 'stale' hair cuz i've started going messy as well..

  • @johannataylor lol...stale hair needs luv too

  • I have so many messy days, so this video was very helpful!

  • I need to put my hair in that style RIGHT NOW! LOL!!! I am so guilty of not retwisting when I should. This hairstyle would definitely be on my list of "no twist and need a business look." Thank you for sharing. peace

  • definitely love the swoop bang... never thought about making it like that.... Big Ups!!!!!

  • neat style. my locs are no where near the length of yours, but I am anxious to try out a swoop bang with my many head bands. thanks for sharing. keep'em comin. oh, i also like how you made suggestions through out the tut.

  • neat style. my locs are no where near the length of yours, but I am anxious to try out a swoop bang with my many head bands. thanks for sharing. keep'em comin.

  • @LocsAndThings love that you're willing to give it a try and play with accessories!

  • showed this to my daughter and she has worn her hair like this everyday this week!! thanks

  • Great idea! I saw another loctuber (lovelacey) do something similar with her halo hairstyle and loved it...thanks for the double inspiration!!!! Beautiful style on you lady!!!!

  • love this! i never thought of using a hair band to create bangs. Thanks for this!

  • @tbey82 bangs FTW!

  • @summerbabi FTW??? what does that mean?

  • @tbey82 FTW = For The Win

  • @dunte86 lol thanks dunte!

  • @summerbabi aw yeah! bangs in the house!

  • FIND YO SCALP GIRL!! lol, You always have unique hairstyle Naomi! keep it up

  • @dunte86 scalp is soooo over rated ;D

  • @summerbabi haha it is

  • I like the messy look also...Waiting patiently for my locs to grow so that I can rock some of these styles...Good video..Thanks for taking the time to share...Keep it coming. Can you add some short style tutorials? i am only a year out still very short....PattyP

  • @ppalmer35 i have some short hair tutorials in store but it all depends on my neighbor and the next time i do here hair. her hair is aobut 4" long

  • How inspiring to see different dreadheads come together to teach us younger ones!!! HURRAH!!!

  • The accent throws me .. Where might it be from ? lol

  • @NekkiDo1 i see i'm going to have to do a FAQ vid ;D...i'm a 1st generation American so i sound like everything. parents from the caribbean [svg & tnt]

  • @summerbabi welcome to my life. lol

  • Thanks so much for your incredibly easy variation vid!! Today I wore a version of this style and felt amazing (locs 1yr med/short length). You inspired me to purchase some cute accessories etc.. Questions: If I want my locs to thicken is it better to go longer between retwists, 3 or more weeks? I noticed retwisting every 2 weeks is thinning my locs. I would love to wash or rinse my hair/scalp more often due to my daily workout routine.

  • @mskierraca my locs are as thick as they are becaues my hair has always been super thick. will less retwist thicken them out? in my experience, yes. but not super-significantly thicker. if ur hair is think it'll continue to be so, locked or not. If it is thick it will continue to be thick. i say wash away but maybe just refrain from retwisting everytime u wash. hope this is helpful

  • Thanks for posting her video! She gave so many style ideas in this one video. This is super useful for me as well since my hair is pretty much the similar length as hers

  • Oh wow! That was so pretty and do-able! I'm not sure if my locs are long enough but I am definitely gonna try a version of it in the morning. I have a ton of those black bands that I have not used in awhile.

    Great tut! Thanks!

  • Positive people in the house!!! Luvin the vibes fam. Can wait to bring more tuts and what not *tasha mack voice* lol...

looks like i'm going to have to count my locs one of these days so i can answer that never failing how many loc do you have question. the things i do for chescalocs viewers ;D

    -Naomi [summerbabi]

  • this is VERY CUTE!!

  • Thank you Naomi! Very creative.

  • I was not trying to be rude, I just find chescalocs more entertaining thats all. I will continue to watch and hopefully it gets more interesting... geez!!!

  • @BlaqueWoods i appreciate your support and didn't personally call you rude. sorry if you felt otherwise. but you have to admit, saying "i don't like these new people" could be interpreted as rude or unfriendly. thanks for continuing to tune in, i hope you'll soon see what i saw in both mark and naomi.

  • welcome Naomi.

  • thank you for posting, finally a fresh style for shorter locs. Good job Naomi

  • @egypsie well i'm glad u like it egypsie

  • I really liked this tutorial. All the variations were very helpful. This really made me want to lock my hair again!!

  • @dwarfdome lock. lock. lock. feeling the peer pressure yet? lol.... all the best whether u lock back up or not

  • LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! really cute!

  • I likes. This will be good for work since it'll keep my hair out of my face and it's cute for those days when the retwist isn't so fresh.

  • @BrownSkinLady22 Exactly! Its a problem when people at the job start hinting at you paying more attentioin to your hair (in more ways than one but lets leave that alone).

  • Love the accent!

  • @jenjaq77 lol...my "accent" is the result of bein a 1st geeneration american constantly surrounded by people from all over the caribbean...im terrible about spaking like any and everyone around me -_-

  • I like the messy look too! I hardly ever retwist. This is really cute. And I love your make-up. Simple and pretty!

  • @MissMash76 thnx missmash! as a former, and sometimes present tom boy i'm relatively new to the makeup scene but i'm having playing around

  • very cute! i may try this!

  • I absolutely love this style, but what I love the most is that my locks and your locks are roughly the same length, so I can replicate your styles with ease! The crocheted flower was a great touch, btw. I thought it worked well at hiding the locks that were sticking up from the bang.

  • @NaturalBeauty321 omg...that makes us loc twins!!! lol. now if i can just find my wonder power twin ring that washes, retwists and styles my hair with only a fist bump...

  • @summerbabi Ha ha ha. Indeed!

  • Very nice....I love all the options you provided. I cannot wait for this weather to stay consistently warm so I can really break out my hair accessories and start using them :) Love the crochet flower :)

  • @qochemist Thnx missy! Consistantly warn around ur way is one month out of the year -_- lol. I found the pattern for the flower right here on youtube. I'll look it up and inbox u the info. You're so creative I'd love to see what you come up with

  • I crochet too and like the idea of the hair accessory. does look like business hair. Nice Job kudos! :-))

  • @LadyShyye crocheters unite!

  • Very cute Sis.!! I'm going to have to try this very soon...

  • Congrats on Chescalocs! enjoying your vids very creative for shorter/med loc thanks..question how often do you retwist, clarify and why? What products do you use, recommend?

  • @mskierraca it's so encouraging and means more than u know to read comments like urs. thanks so much!

I retwist according to whim and schedule. Sometimes ever 2 weeks. Sometimes every 3. Ever so often every month. I use hair jam or mango and lime locking wax or both [always using the jam on my hairline for the neat factor]. I recomend w/e works best for you. I've tried ORS or other highly recomemded brands but everyone's hair is different. My hair l likes jam.

  • Cute, I'm wearing a variation of this now.

  • I like the newbies, very creative and informative.

  • i like the newbies, I mean its all about hair right! somone should stop being so critical...i whips my hair back and forth!!!!

  • @misshattie007 thanks!

  • @misshattie007 i whips my hair too misshattie lol. thanks for the support xx

  • Love the bang! I don't think my locs will comply with the criss-cross part. :o(

  • @freedomplease you can always adapt the style to fit your current length. if you can't do the back, there's nothing stopping you from trying the bangs and getting creative with the rest of the style :)

  • @chescaleigh That's the plan. Also, the last look where you did the basket weave gathered and tucked is a style I wear in the summer. All in All, I love the bang. I also make the little hair adornments. Can't wait to pull it all together. Thanks!

  • @freedomplease awesome! can't wait to see what you come up with :)

  • @BlaqueWoods i haven't gone anywhere! and to be fair, you haven't given Mark or Naomi much of a chance.

  • @chescalocs Mark is fantastic!!!

dont let anyone tell you that these additions were not a good idea

im a male with shorter locs and Mark creativity and interpretations are a breath of fresh air

    he's so fearless!!!

  • @ephron22 thanks! i'm glad you're enjoying the contributors!

  • @BlaqueWoods So rude *smh*!

  • i like...

  • alright I cant for the life of me figure if she has an accent or not cuz sometimes its there and the rest of the time its not

  • @chuyton she's from the US but her parents are from the Caribbean

  • I love it! I definitely can't wear it now but I'm tucking it away in my arsenal of loc tuts. lol Thanks for sharing!

  • @RacquelNM tuck, tuck away! =]

  • Cute!! I love the size of your locs!! HOW MANY DO YOU HAVE??

  • I really liked the crochet flower and the style. My locs are still not even long enough for this style however! :-/

  • @Mimi10283 you may have to shelf this exact style for the time being but i hope you work out a creative way to adapt it for ur lenght locs. u can check out some of my earlier vids ont he summerbabi channel to see my struggle bubble version of this style. most of my "new" styles are just updated versions of the 4" locs stuff from just a short year or two ago.

  • Nice! I like it too!

  • i love it

  • i liked the crochet flower! :)

  • I like it...even the messiness...because that's how I generally wear my locks, just a tad bit messy, just to note though, the criss-crossing is called a basket weave, or so I've come to know:)

  • @Jamafrikan876 yea me too i like when my roots/naps show and its not so neat.

  • @Jamafrikan876 its funny how much i use to obsess over keeping my locs neat in the early days. now *psssh* bring on the new growth. we live, learn, and the get creative! =]

  • @summerbabi...yes I was like that too when I just started, and my locs were pretty short and because they're also pretty fine also I used to think that the messy look was not cute so I used to retwist ever so often, now I don't...but that might have a little to do with the fact that they're now waaaay longer and I'm a bit lazy...lol

  • @Jamafrikan876 i'm starting to embrace my messy locs as well. i'm not retwisting as often and i actually like the look!

  • Cool love it. Very stylish.

  • love it! :)

  • Very cute!!

  • Love this!!!!! Thanks; Bless up...

  • so cute!!

  • very cute

  • Great look I can't wait to try it!
