Mariah hasn't lost any of her credibility. mariah has worked with many incredible vocal coaches over the years..Melonie being one of them. They've helped mariah sharpen her craft and helped learn some new things. Mariah is an incredible vocalist. One of the best i've ever heard. But all great vocalist receive training and work hard to get to the top

Wow, back in the day Revival Temple! awesome post! They were so dynamic and so important to the movement of God in Newark when I was a kid. My would watch the VHS of this concert over and over again just to listen to this song! They were simply great. RIP Bishop Banks.

both Karen and Melonie are crazy vocalist i mean but you gotta give it up to Melonie she is a Julliard grad she got range runs vocal control and she is a successful background singer with and awesome ear so she can blend with anybody i mean look at her past work from r and b to latin music gospel this woman deserves respect i mean she vocally trained Mariah Carey when she was at the peak of her talent..Karen is dope to but Melonie should be respected.

Yes her range his sick but Karen is in her own category alone and true gospel fans (80's era) will tell you this. Melonie doesn't compare and till this day still really doesnt. It's all these "commercial/youtube" gospel fans that are on the Melonie tip now.

No need to pretend your opinion is the beginning and the end, just because you someone's fan. They both have their strengths were they are stronger than the other, and your preference would lie with with strengths appeal to you most or just plain bias. As for me, I likes it all. Actually she did train Mariah Carey and was also a background vocalist for her as well. That is fact not fiction. You can't take anything away from Mariah Carey, she an amazing vocalist; however she was trained like many great singers or any singer who wants to be great. Melonie was one of many vocal coaches Mariah has been blessed to work with.

Ummm, I like this civilized debate...but Karen to me is the entire package... She is known for GROWLING, ECHOING, Her falsetto is amazing, her real voice is amazing, her riffs are effortless and go very long and are always completed, her high notes recorded and live are on point, plus she can sing...I mean SANG many songs in a row on point... Melonie...did "Oh the glory" not that much justice... Not like Karen... I personally think when they get older range weakens... But all Ladies are on top!

True Jay Karen can riff and run that high but she can stay up there the whole time like Lashun and Melonie. They can stay hitting C6's B5's in the whole song effortless. Melonie still has the edge over all them cause she has huge lower register too. Melanie is just nasty vocally!

They were doing their thing too. Seen a very old video of Lashun Pace on youtube, and she was singing in the upper heavens. There's also an old video of Sherri Jones were she went up into the ultra heavens which I found extremely shocking. Seen old videos of Yolanda, and she was tearing up the songs as always, even if she wasn't singing up there. Seen old video of Karen Clark too and her range was higher than now! You just have to do some research or I can send you links of few.

I know Whitney too can sing this high especially when she was mad young. She belted like C6 in me me me......... I Am Changing in like a second in the same scale imitating the guitar player. Her range was sick, and she hit whistle tones plenty of times in late 80's and 90's.

Lashun, is the only that can belt this high like comfortably like Melanie out of the gospel singers. Karen could but not to stay up there like Melanie the whole time.

I agree...but the thing is... Karen could and would go beyond that note... I feel that these gospel singers never battle.... They sing with holy spirits and their own emotions....but whenever Karen sings with another singer or soprano...she always goes into her secret registry....and just belts notes that widens eyes.... it may not be as long...but they are SUPER CLEAR and HIGH!!!

Karen highest is like a C6# belt and Melanie does this with ease incredible ease and still can anytime she feels like it. Lashun can belt to a D6 higher than yes even Karen. Lashun can still up there the whole time. Lashun is the highest belter in gospel hands down, than Lorraine Stancil, Chrystal Rucker, then Karen Clark Sheard
