  • Its not rising you can hear the octaves changin as my friend says i can hear it quite clearly and since this trick has been explained to me it no longer trick's me.

  • if you listen carefully you can hear the octave changing

  • If you play an instrument, most likely you will be able to hear the tone drop

  • @BluePi1313 I don't even play one and I noticed. xD

  • @BluePi1313 Yeah, it's pretty easy to pick out the different instruments and follow them until the tone drops.

  • It appears to rise continuously, but if you hit 1 and 3 back and forth, you'll notice they sound the same.

  • I can her when the tone drops at 0:13-0:14 ,0:23 - 0:24 etc.

  • You made it good!

  • Dubstup shepard tone? :3

  • Fake and gay

  • Press 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 ecc

  • O.O

  • I don't have a feeling it is going higher and higher . I hear a loop.

  • @verapamil07 you and your robotic mind

  • Soo... it dosen't sound like it's going up octaves... even though it sounds like it at the same time... GAH I'm no music expert... I need an explanation for this illusion

  • @EpicEevee9001 never mind... i looked it up on wikipedia. too complicated to explain but now i get how it works

  • I am Commander Shepard, and this is my favorite tone on the Citadel.

  • @michaliskebab hahah excellent!

  • wow.. anke il basso!

  • This is what you should hear when going up in an elevator or reverse when going down

  • SOMEONE RAP TO THIS, GO!

  • there seems to be more than one group of shepard tones in this.

  • Haha nice. the rising tone fades while the originally accompanying tones octave(s) below take over seamlessly.

  • i feel light-headed haha :P

  • This is the illusion they used in Mario 64 for the endless staircase.

Except they made it WAAAAY creepier.

  • That was freaky

  • This is one of the better Shepard tones I've heard, good work :)

  • @blackleejack try it and get back to me

  • @blackleejack

    Yes.

  • @blackleejack Possibly.

  • @blackleejack find out for Yourself, then tell Us your results =]

  • @blackleejack of course not! *evil silent laughter*

  • what is the notation or scale to produce this?

  • the piano dropps down while the strings are still going uppwards and viseversa

that was not that hard to hear.

  • @SebastianGerstelS Pianos and strings are played on the same level. Though I made piano more complicated than a "one hit", but it actually doesn't affect to the illusion.

  • @SebastianGerstelS No, as the line gets high it fades out as it simultaneously fades in down low.

  • @SebastianGerstelS it should be the same instrument playing both/all octaves

  • no man its up and down... if it were really endless i would not be able to hear it hhah

  • @Lrdvltr Hey.

You could try start listening it even in the middle or at the end of the loop (anywhere), you would only be hearing it still go higher and higher than previous step, even I can't tell where it would go lower.

There's no actual point where it would start going lower than the past steps.

  • @Scarscape

    0:50, around 0:37 as well :P

  • @Scarscape i think there is, keep saying high low to it, it goes high low through out all the time

  • excatly, actually, if you pay attention, the sound is the same if you concentrate to it being the same, but if youre thinking the sound is rising, then it will seem like it.

  • we can't even trust our own senses now can we?

  • @mikko568 could we ever trust it?

  • Cool! You did a good job with that

  • it coz 1 part of ya brian is concintrating on the lower bit nd the other part is paying more attention the the bit that sounds like it's gettin higher. its simple

  • a hip-hop Shepard tone

  • @tritanopia we'll call it: Shep-hop

  • A physical manifestation of the golden ratio, which is itself an expression of the tri-octave (22/7), this pattern has been used for centuries by the Illuminati to communicate their ideas between..........
