But still it takes skill to fly a helicopter, it's much harder than you think it is. Even with an autopilot turned on they have to perform different maneuvers inside the cockpit.
this is probably really dangerous because it looks like the boat is going against wind and the helicopter has to stay hovererd over the boat while flying against wind wich is really dangerous
Look how close the rotor blades are they're nearly eye level with the guy standing on the deck! One fuck up and those blades are going straight through the tower.
this pilot and crew are doing a dangerous manueuver, that they have trained for for many months. It doesn't take away from the fact it is still dangerous. These service men deserve more than our shock and awww they deserve our respect, our loyality, and admiration. not everyone can be this smart to do this manevuer.
at first i thought that the helicopter was going to land on the guy it droped then i thought the second guy was going to dive out from the helicopter and faceplant but no the video was crap
Everybody doesn't get it. The helicopter is hovering over the front of the ship, trying to maintain stability while the vessel is moving. It' actually harder than it looks. Plus they got a guy repelling of the side, so a mistake would be fatal.
where is the danger he says? and 86 people agree? there morons. this drop off maneuver is extremely dangerous due to the fact that the helicopter is SO close to the edge of the ship and the rotor blades are extremely close to the ships tower. Plus, since the vessel is moving forward and the helecopter is n the front, it has to tilt at such an angle to keep up with the speed of the ship. So yes, this is extremely dangerous!
@duke8976 I disagree. If you look very closely to the bottoms two corners of the screen, you can clearly see that the ripples of the water move past the ship in a forward direction, thus the ship is moving forward, bu of course in a slow manner.
@duke8976 I disagree. If you look very closely to the bottoms two corners of the screen, you can clearly see that the ripples of the water move past the ship in a forward direction, thus the ship is moving forward, bu of course in a slow manner.

@duke8976 How do you expect the boat no to be moving? With the constant movement in the water? Ahh, i guess the Laws of Physics dont apply to you then.
@SUPPORTOURTROOPS365 it is ver dangerous … what I don't get is WHY the pilot puts his life and others' at risk into such a manoeuvre ?… couldn't do it the proper way ?…
@RunningSwimmingMan who said this situation was banned? TO me, there is no situation in the military that is illegal to conduct (of course only if it is war crimes such as killiung civilians for no reason, which we do not do). All I am saying is that this type of maneuver is very dangerous and requires a high amount of skill, I did not say it shouldnt be done. I only type this stuff up becuase many people who have commented say that this does not require much skill at all.
@SUPPORTOURTROOPS365 Also, you'll notice on the deck, they have lines painted out, exactly for this particular evolution, they know exactly what the clearances are... It's somethings that maybe not done everyday, or maybe even every month, but the pilots / Dets are required to do a certain number to keep there quals current... But completely agree, "Too Dangerous" is very subjective wording.
@SUPPORTOURTROOPS365 All I am saying, is that, Navair Errors very very heavily on the side of caution, and if this was something that was deemed "Too Dangerous" or Even "Dangerous," (by the experts) you certainly would not see a video about it on youtube, and if you did, you would probably read about whoever the HAC was being suspended, or losing his wings. "Too Dangerous" is very subjective wording, I believe just flying in a H-53 is "Too Dangerous" because of their track record.
@RunningSwimmingMan What you believe isn't always true.fact and reality is working on an air craft carriear is the most dangerous job ibn the world and that's a fact..lol...what now?bring it on,I WAS ON THAT BABY IN NAM FUCK TARD!
it could be dangerous if a strong wind blows the helicopter, and the helicopter looses control and runs into the ship...but lets try to be optimistic bout this...hey look tits!
The danger is in the fact that the helicopter is that close to a movie target. The heli moving, the boat is moving and the ocean is moving. All it takes is a rogue wave to push the boat up a bit higher and it could spell disaster.
Really? this is not dangerous? Jeese you guys, the chopper is hovering like 5 meters above a moving ship with gusts of wind that could push it on it at any time.
@mortiery haha i fly chopers in gta4 , battlefield and arma 2 and ka-50. arma 2 and ka-50 are both simulations, so they are way more realistic then gta4. any kid can fly a chopper in gta4. in real life every wind will shake your chopper and make it move to different sides.i bet you wouldnt even be able to fly a chopper at exactly the same speed as the boat with out any movement what so ever.
@julian111993 if you've got Operation arrowhead you gotta try the TKOH community preview, thats (90%) real flying in a game with no auto trim these kids wont even get 10 foot off the ground.
@PhotoShopChannel dickhead, I was reffering to all the knobs that think they can do it in rl because they can in bf. If you aint one of them what you bitching about?
The Navy And the US Coast Guard practice this every day, this is the Flight Mechanic's job to tell the pilot his position over the boat and at the same time run the hoist to a boat that is underway... It was a pretty big target, but putting a rescue swimmer on a sailboat in bad weather is a harder task, but to be a flight mechanic, you must practice this, and pass some pretty intense training...
Couldn't he just fast rope? Why the hell doesn't this man have training in fast roping when he is getting deployed by a US Navy heli? Awesome pilot and really dangerous situation for the time it took to that Sir to get detached from harness!

That is some awesome skill by the pilot to stay at the same pace as the ship DIAGONALLY while doing a drop off, watch the shadow, almost never misaligned, best pilot ever!
@ermollejuo Unpredictable elements could still come into play no matter the expertise. The ship catches a rogue swell and the bow smashes into the underside of the chopper, or a wind gust gives the chopper a sudden push down, at that height there'd be little to no time to react. Also low altitude flight (landing as well) are dangerous for a helicopter, the downdraft from the blades can be redirected up through the rotors causing it to flip over suddenly.
i am wondering what's the wisdom in dropping off a man from this close distance !! it does not seem far from the ship's deck , so why they do not just land over !!?
i think the dangerous part is that the ship is moving while the helicopter is dropping off somebody. The helicopter might plunge into the sea for no reason you see
@420choky every time you comment you just say something even more stupid keep going it ok you're the one that making you're self look like an idiot troll

@xiJamesDuffyix lol it is dangerous. just because it didnt crash doesnt mean that its not dangerous. you try flying a multi million dollar helicopter near a billion dollar ship.
@dragensrul Hmmm... "genuis", you say? lmao And don't say that you did that on purpose because you clearly put the incorrectly spelled part between quotation marks (",)
@hihihoho1234 u idiot, u dont realize is that he is not hovering over the ship he is moving with the ship, if he were to change speed he could easily crash into the ship.

@ZuKahta i know i know this pilot has a lot of skils to do this. but in the video he doesn't make any mistakes so it doesn't look dangerous.

@hihihoho1234 that low and close to the sea the helicopter can create a vacuum below itself... essentially sucking it into the boat

@hihihoho1234 0:00-1:14 where the ship is moving and one mistake or wrong steer on the pilots side could make him smash into the ship.

@hihihoho1234 the helicopter crashing into the ship and killing everyone.
