Hi. i am 15 and i am going to enlist when i am 18. But i cant choose between Marines or Army. I am in the highest shape, i can run 10 miles under 50 Minutes i am strong i can bench press 230 and i have very strong legs. But the problem is, my parents hate the military ever since my uncle was K.I.A in Baghdad. So i can decide whether or not to join.
@GreenDewd You know what kid your parents aren't going to like it anyway you put it to them. It's your choice not theirs they're telling you their opinions. If you're as strong as you say you are than go to college, do ROTC, and become an officer.
I'm a Marine and my biased opinion is obvious. But just see which one is fit for you Army or Marines, or neither, but its your choice. The internet is filled with info.
@GreenDewd You might what to re read what you wrote you said 10 miles in under fifty mintues that would be under 5 minute miles for 10 miles straight which is impossible for even an olmypian.
@GreenDewd id choose marines because i feel that you feel better to call yourself a marine not a army man or whatever. thats my opinion good luck choosing the right choice for you
@GreenDewd I do not believe that the ultimate decision is theirs. You need to respect your parents, and listen to the reasons why they wouldn't want you to join, but the decision will be yours in the end. Also, it is very true that any job in the military has the risk of paying the ultimate price, but the things you will learn from it will easily outweigh the risk and will set you up for success in the rest of your life. Any branch is honorable, but I'm biased and would say Semper Fi. Good Luck.
@GreenDewd 10 miles in 50 minutes? idk about that. but i have had the same thought as you. marines or army??? im 17 and will be enlisting this coming febuary. im gonna do the marines because i want to do infantry. i feel that if you want to do infantry, go into the marines. you will want the most training possible when the bullets fly. but for something like combat engineering. id go army because of a bigger budget, so you will have more money to do the things you need to.
i have a question, i am a Poolee out of north east Pennsylvania, and i have about 107 days left until i leave for bootcamp, my plan is to make a career of the Marine Corps. i would love to retire as an E9, and im just wondering, what is the shortest and longest it could take to be promoted to E9 if they graduate bootcamp as an E2. any help is appreciated, thank you.
shed of blood in beginning of man is acceptable, but now it is not acceptable, the excuse for shed of blood happening now because it has always happened is invalid. killing people or warfare is not serving, you serve one person's opinion, the presidents. If his will is unlawful towards another countries you have to act on it regardless. This is wrong, if you really did serve you would be sent to africa were millions are starving to help out, instead u are sent to fight for oil. good job
Lets see. If there was no Marine corps, the u.s. military can function just fine. Take away the Army...we would loose every war.Truth be told. But hey, we do need a detachment from the Navy to cover down on security for the president..haha. Now, go ahead and justify in the comments below...
ok lets set this straight. are you ready. THE ARMY IS NOT GAY. NEITHER ARE THE MARINES. they are different. army is more about numbers and marines are more about strength. however there are strength in number. its all PERSONAL PREFERENCE. grow the fuck up
@Soldier19KTanker lmfao nah it was not dude. that 4.5 month training is called OSUT its where u basic and ait are mixed together LMFAO so you GET SOME
@TheMarineKid17 Lets see...your boot...both male and female do. Your infantry training is way too short. Take the portion of your infantry training and add 16 weeks to it, now take away the female doing the same thing factor and make it more stressful and hectic. That's OSUT vs your training...
@Soldier19KTanker ok wtf? lets see Marine boot is 13 weeks infantry training is 9 weeks unless ur non combat its a month and then u go to your mos school
Army basic is 9 weeks. and unless ur infantry u have no combat training so u need to stfu bitch
@TheMarineKid17 16 weeks. Get it right.9 weeks is for non combat arms before they move on to AIT. Basic combat training. Combat arms do not transition to any ait. It's advanced combat training. Your infantry is equal to basic infantry in the Army minus airborne and air assault training. And minus the technology. Funny how Marines join the Army wanting the Elite factor and wanting to try out to be a Ranger, Special Forces or Delta. And I am combat Arms. M1 Abrams Tank commander. secondary mos Recon
@mojohobo15 No the marines have a pyhsical requirement you can not have handincapped people defending your country they can not pyhsical or mentally do it
Basic training? I'm not a Marine, hell, i'm not an American.. But i've learned that in the Marine Corps, it's NEVER called basic training. Either Boot Camp OR Recruit Training.. Recruiters, DI's and Marines are VERY strict about this..
@Slater0311 Lol, they give you a 'dream sheet' to chose your base of prefference, if you choose Okinowa, you'll likely get that, since most want to stay in the US..
@FSGZombie Son before you go out there.Live a good life.Meet a girl.Think about a family. Its a shame and a beauty seeing all these young boys ready to die at any moment for their country
@inkantalolz so you signed up for the greatest fighting force known to man so you could be a mechanic? Love the title but dont want to fight right? POG poolee
The most honorable thing you can do is serve your country the right way. If everyone did it the right way then their wouldnt be any pollution, people dying of cancer, and violent crimes. U want to do something honorable then pick up your trash and help the environment, be a responsible citizen before joining the marines.
Say what man? If everyone served in the Military, there'd be no CANCER? I plan on being a Marine at some point, so don't think I'm anti-military, but dude, CANCER is a genetic mutation in a cell that causes it to reproduce en-mass, and Military service cannot reverse or prevent a genetic mutation from occurring. Violent Crime, likewise, is sometimes caused by psychosis, which a person cannot help to prevent. Pollution is also an inevitable side effect of human existence.
Because he is a salesmen...u wana know what the guy is? He is a truck driver in the USMC and is now a recruiter...Great a pog talking trash about outher service branches. Thats rich.
Usually workouts that requires stamina and dexterity. Don't try to jack jacked causes the more weight you have the harder the training gets. And remember Marines are warriors not bodybuilders. Run alot and do alot of dead hang pull ups and crunches. And if possible hiking alot is also good for you.
Best thing that can be said? Eat healthy. Maintain a proper diet, and you'll keep yourself in a condition that is READY to be toned and trained. It's hard work, so don't treat it lightly. For USMC, function is favored over appearance. This being said, focus your workout on the FUNCTION of your muscles, not the way you look with your shirt off. Don't burn yourself out, build it up gradually. Never do more than you feel you can, at one time. PM me if you want to hear any more.
A Marine will go overseas to combat locations when his or her obligations require it. You go over there simply by being in a position in the Marine Corps that the top brass decides is needed overseas.
Really? cause dad was in the National Guard, my great uncle was in the Air force and my grandpa was in the Army. Now it's the time for there to be a Marine in the family, me! God luck on that dude. And how old are you?
My dad was a marine during Vietnam, he said the training now is hard but pussy compared to what they had to go through....that, is fucking scary then if now i know its hard i wonder what it was like 30 years ago.
eyoooooo, your full of shit. Just look at the deaths in iraq and you will see that the talibal got their asses handed to them in hell by the US Marines that now run it, and they were sent their by US Marines who love to kick ass!
Hahaha what a dumbass! In the Corps, it's not basic training, its Boot Camp! There is nothing basic about Marine Corps Boot Camp, it is the most demanding recruit training program of any military in the world! "Basic Training" is in the Army.

Royal Marines and U.S. Marines are both respectable in their own rights. We're both the good guys and we both can kick a bad guy's ass, that's all that matters.
LOL... had a funny thought there for a moment :) I'd never seen a Marine remain immobile for a long period of time..hehe. You meant 'relocate.' Hehe... silly me :) Thanks for the post SSgt. Thank your dad Bee for his dedication and service :)
