Dark was named dark but it translates from dirty fighting or foul play in the Japanese versions so the moves like bite and sucker punch do make sense because they are a form of dirty fighting

@KingRaikou well it's not the Pokemon doing the flying (i.e. use of wings, which are physical) it's more of controlling the air-currents magically, which in my opinion would put them right up there with electric, grass, and fire. You know, Aero-Blast... Shouldn't that be a special attack? There is no requirement to use any physical part of the pokemon's body to launch it, right? Anyway, that's just my thinking. Gyarados is flying even though it's definitely not using any part of its body to fly.

@PKMNRetrospective Well, Aeroblast is a special move in Gen 4, but for some stupid reason, Sacred Fire is now physical, even though it never required Ho-oh to use it's body to use Sacred Fire.

these damn program errors, I kinda understood it in the originals but really how did the american Red Blue and Yellow get by with some of these. especially Focus Energy being the most useless move in the game because of this.

I agree with the concept of making Bite a Dark Type move though. And that drawing...I know I've seen it somewhere before. Mulan's father, right?

you know dark wouldn't be so bad if they didn't make more of them, and hell even with more I just say that ghost should've been taken out and the ghost effect itself be turned into the ability thing they did. that way it could range from Hunter now having to be either immune to ground based attacks, or normal and fighting.

now the only reason to have a ghost is if you don't have a psychic or flying type on your team since they basically are only good against fighting.

Steel is one of my favorite types (Metagross ftw), but I'm not angry about a single one of your comments on Dark or Steel in this vid, they are veeeeery well-founded IMO.

However...I still don't see how that proves me wrong. So you SAY you watch every video you can about video games, and the Pokémon anime, etc. But you seem incredibly arrogant to come out and tell someone you know more about a subject than they do, especially just by saying that. He may know a lot more about the deeper aspects of Pokémon than you do, it's possible. Keep in mind that it is always possible you are wrong. I often do.

I really do love your Retrospective, Phil, but some of your complaints about the Dark type is kind of incorrect (and Dark being one of my favorite types isn't the reason I'm saying this. ^^;). Dark moves are supposed to be similar to "cheap" type of attacks. You know, like Sucker Punch is known as a cheap shot in real life. As such, Bite is considered Dark. Dark being Special is stupid, though. And, even IF Dark can be Psychic, Stats really add up.

By the way, you DO realize that Ghost became Super effective against Psychic-types in Generation II, right? In a way, they did become Psychic killers if you use Misdreavus. Also, the Dark and Steel types were not only meant to nerf the over-used Psychic-types a bit, but to also buff the under-used Fighting-types as well. (Fun Fact: In Japan, Dark is known as "Evil" and Fighting is known as "Hero".)

if we are gonna bring up wtfs of attack classification one thing i always thought as a child that rock was strong against electric but it turned out that it was ground that was resistance to electric

why is rock not strong to electric now that i learned that it does not make sense to me

I think this was lacking a bit compared to others. There seemed to be a bit of long pauses in between, and a couple of parts with no visual.

I'm not saying that this is complete crap, not at all. Just saying, that it wasn't as good as the other ones for a couple reasons. It's still REAL good!
