@amtrak3501 Livonia had 9 sirens total. 5 of em were 3016s, two 2001-DCs, 1 SRN, and 1 EOWS-612. During the time I filmed this, only 6 sirens were still operational. When West Shore Service installed the new sirens, they placed a few in locations to where there hasn't had a siren before for additional coverage. Livonia has 12 sirens total now. 10 of em are 130s, 1 is a SRN, and 1 is a DC. I should have a map of our sirens in the discription. Thanks for the comment.
I was at this site when they had this siren down on the ground and the new FS siren on a skid being unloaded. I have still picks of that day on my iphone.
Yea, the same thing happened here in Dearborn MI. They too just replaced all of thier old whelens with 2001s. And the reason the test in Livonia failed is the same reason here in Dearborn they failed a few months too. Really not a failure, more like plan. The reason is because of the fact that the citys were both in the process of replacing thier systems. So theres no point in testing them, not to mention they probably couldnt test them considering the system was no longer a whole system.
I agree with you on that. According to what Dearborn's EMA director told me, he said that all of the old Whelens are Dearborn now are decomissioned due to the fact that they have began their siren replacement but he's been getting a lot of complaint calls from residents saying that the new 2001s are not loud enough. In reality, they are suppose to be louder then Whelen WPS-2700 series. West Shore Services needs to hurry up and finish Dearborn's sirens before things turn ugly.
@Siren1000T1 Its funny that you brought up the 2001s not being loud enough complaint. Because ill vouch for the people complaining...you can barely tell when thier going off. I wrote a letter to the mayor about it a while back. The old WPS 2700 sirens were waaaaay more attention grabbing. If you havent already seen this vid type in whelen wps 2760 darborn whoop, thats what we used to have. So much better than garbage 2001s.
Hey siren1000t, is this the siren right down the road from Churchill High? i was jus wondering cause i am graduating there this June and i also lived rite next to this siren if this is the one near CHS
Actually this is one in the video is located at 5 Mile and Middlebelt Rd. The one by Churchill High School is off of Newberg and Ann Arbor Trail but that particuler siren is no longer there anymore. The siren that replaced it is a 2001 DC which is actually the older 2001 siren models which was made around 1990.
FEMA is at the national or "Federal" level (hence Federal Emergency Management Agency). EMAs are usually on the local level like county or city level.

If it really was broken and wasn't fixed until it was removed, it would have to go anyways. Are you planning on filming a 2001-130 next?

You mean FEMA?

Maybe they were preparing too take it down and unplugged it or something in that kind of way.
Leafblower29 3 years ago
I bet they broke it on purpose.

That sucks that it didn't sound. Any idea why?

Too bad this Whelen 3016 didn't go off, but the sirens in the background are pretty awesome.
