  • I have a rogue banjo that I put nylon strings on for that more plucky sound. It give a great warm sound and is easier on your finger nails. You should give it a try, but you will probably need to get a no-knot tailpiece. Instead, I made one out of mahogany. It works great.

  • what kind of banjo is that and what tone ring?

  • @fralin1966 it is a Rogue brand banjo, the company was started in 1983, it is made in china, I bought it off the local craig's list because I wanted something cheap to get started with....I took it all apart and set it up, lowered the bridge, it settled in pretty well after a couple of months, it has no tone ring, but it has a 5 ply, probaply birch rim..which makes me think it is fairly old...i don't think it sounds too bad at all..

for what it is....thanks for watchin!!!

  • Good teaching job. It's a relatively easy tune, even for me, after I watched this a few times. I'm a beginner (6 months) and anxious to learn any way I can! Thanks.

  • @willsoflo thanks i'm glad you found it helpful, i'm definitely new to the banjo myself, i find that clawhammer is such amazing dramatic style, it is wonderful....punch up Adam Hurt on youtube it is just freakishly good!!!!!! best regards cj
