I live on the bay and I can see a bunch of radio and cellphone towers...and the coal plant. There's water towers too. Oh and there's 100 ft high power lines that run pretty much the length of the cape. Across the channel from me is a fish processing plant that wanted to put up a windmill but it got voted down. Same thing in a brewster municipal poll. I don't know whats wrong with people. Apparently they think its better to blow up a mountain, truck it in and burn it than make a pinwheel spin
Ya because that beautiful power plant in Bourne spreading carcinogenic material is so much better than some white metal windmills 7 miles off the coast in an area too shallow to have any sizable ship travel through.
If they don't want wind there, put up a natural gas or coal fired power plant. These are the same people who would shove fossil fuel power plants on commuities who don't have the pull like kennedy, just to save their view at the cost of our health.
This is a great video! Gordon is right that all energy projects have an impact, but wind is a positive alternative to coal-fired power plants, nuclear, etc.
Ha! We've been proposing alternative plans to Cape Wind's DEAF EARS since the get-go. In fact, an editorial in a local Cape Cod paper made just that point: Cape Wind NEVER seriously considered alternative siting!
Also, many of us HAVE been advocating for REAL energy efficency and conservation. Government & industry have totally dropped the ball on that account.
Why are those opposed to this wind project not proposing alternate plans? Have they thought of
advocating government incentives for solar, for energy-efficient appliances, or for vertical-axis turbines? If not, they're environmental pretexts for opposing it seem rather skin-deep.
Ugly and expensive...Where is the bargain. Whole project stinks.
