This reminds me of once when I tried cutting a 2' by 2' glass pane with a dremel tool. It took about 10 seconds until the entire pane just shattered into tiny little bits. Never have I done that again, nor do I try using glass in subwoofer projects.
the bowl got hot so it expanded, when it cooled it compacted and exploded.
My bro did the same thing, he left a glass kettle cover ontop of an electric burner on an oven... There was an arc of electricity gong from the burner to the metal parts of the cover, which is how i noticed it.
:P
We placed it in our sink and about 10 minutes later, we heard a loud pop. The glass on the cover was cracked everywhere, but it didn't break apart.
I had 2 glasses explode within one month of each other some years ago, and they were only room tempurature, and both times, I picked them up to wash, but they exploded in my hand, without injury, covering my entire kitchen. Kinda scary, when glass goes off like a bomb.
BOOM!

You should try sticking shit made out of metal in the microwave. Even foil works.
Don't forget to duck and cover!
