  • There are many moments in entertainment history and this reunion of Dean Martin & Jerry Lewis justifies that moment. We'll never seen something like this again

  • I come back to this at least once every six months...

I'm struck for the first time by the realization that, after Martin and Lewis split up, Martin and Sinatra became defacto partners, at least in movies.

Also, notice the dynamic in this epochal medley: Martin has assumed the role of the "funny one," and Sinatra is the straight man.

  • Dean was a pro-Jerry had to be in charge-but together they changed comedy forever.

Their timing and their obvious love for each other still makes me smile and laugh.

  • Man. Dean just can't stop looking over at Jerry. Frank's like: "you can meet after the show!" haha, just great.

  • thank-you for posting. brings back wonderful memories of staying up to "watch the stars come out.". If everyone who saw this would give to MDA, wouldn't that be great?

  • "You turn Jewish on me?" Try getting away with that these days!! Mel Gibson should have made his drunken comments in the seventies so he wouldn't have gotten in trouble.

  • @HerrEllsworth Im Jewish, and I can tell you, Gibson did it with 'HATE' he hates the Jews cause His Daddy said to,and that there never was a holocust. Boy, I sure wish that my cousins who were put in Hitlers furnace could hear that. Jerry, Frank, Dean, Sammy have been friends for a thousand years, and it doesn't matter to them what each one is. Dean a Catholic said that with love, he was partners with Jerry a Jew for over 20 years and religion was not a problem.

  • @HerrEllsworth --- Frank Sinatra was at Sammy Davis's conversion. He was always a friend of the Jews and gave to Israel. He didn't make it known. Mel is a nothing. Look at what passes for talent nowadays. If you can get into trouble with the law - you'll be famous instead of forgotten. Mel and his papa are just outcasts from Tarrytown, NY when the town got together and made sure the Gibsons would be sent packing in the early 60s for anti-American/anti-Jewish comments. JUSTICE!

  • 4:50am Friday (PDT) - Time in Los Angeles, California

  • thats not what he and Sinatra said in the interviews before his death Dean said he wanted to make up that it had been too long and he was ready he said Frank talked to him and he told him don't you think its about time? he agreed and thats why he was there. I saw him say that, if he said he didn't know he musta been joking cus he was dead serious and so was Deans daughter when she talked about it after Dean died.

  • loved these guys i sat and cried along with my mom she was so suprised that he showed, funny cus Frank could make everyone his bitch lol...he moved mountains this was history indeed.

  • @BOBBIE041957

Dean didn't even know they were going there. He just thought Frank Was dragging him to a show at one of the hotels.

  • @Billzor69 dean did know frank called him and asked him if he wanted to go he said "sure"

  • Dean was probably drunk, but he was also probably playing it up. pretty sure they wouldn't have had him out there if he had been blitzed beyond comprehension. aren't they singing all of frank's tunes? maybe he was protesting not singing his own tunes that he knows by heart. I never liked frank, but dean and jerry can never be another pair like those two.

  • @denniswilsonfan Dean wasn't drunk at all! It was his act, and this is testament to how good he was at it. It's been widely documented that the only thing Dean drank on stage was apple juice or apple cider.

  • Right..it's been well documented (and was known at the time)--Dean seldom drank before a show..or during (he was known to make up for it afterward). It was part of his act..and he played it well.

  • whow sinatra's voice is very good !

  • how drunk is poor Dean...

  • ahhhh nice to see people make up .......

  • @MrDoublehappy Ye the whole time.ah, Dean and Jerry. Dean kept looking at Jerry throughout the song.

  • God i miss these guys. i wish all of them were still alive today.

  • God, I forgot about that ...When Long Beach used to be "213" and the Inland Empire used to be all "714"

  • That was a great moment. It must have been strange for Jerry to watch Dean and Sinatra work together when the team used to be him and Dean. Dean became more famous than Jerry when he left (except in France!) to be part of the Rat Pack and make movies and TV, but it was Jerry who made Dean famous to start with.

  • I read in several books that Dean played up the drunk part and was not that drunk. I think he was nervous.

  • @TopSalesPrincess |Dean waqs king of cool. He really was never nervous. |Even not in this jerrys show. greetings from netherlands jan

  • That was Dean's shtick. He was never really drunk. And if he was drunk he would play drunker.

  • 'why do you shout?' lol. they're so cute

  • Loved that reunion, love Dino, but didn't it seem like Frank was carrying Dean through the medley, Dean was feeling no pain?

  • We need legends like this again. What a classic moment. All the good ones are gone.

  • The Jerry Lewis Telethon is the original reality TV!

  • @PopeFlores, too bad there isn't a D.V.D. featuring selected performances from the previous telethons.

  • genius at work... "theres no off position on the genius switch botton"

  • It doesn't get any better than this.

  • notice how from about 2:08 Dean is looking steadily over at Jerry, until Frank says "you can meet after the show, you two guys". Took another 11 years, tho

  • Absolutely fabulous. They'll never be another one of those times. Would love to see the rest of this. I watched it when it originally aired. It was so friggin awesome.

  • Thanks very much.

  • MDA telethon is crap today because class and talent like this is gone.

  • Oh, yeah, I agree. I used to watch this with my grandmother every year becasue she was obsessed with Lewis. I was just a kid and saw all these great performers, both contemporary and from the past. Bot now, it's terrible, like a cheap talent show. Last time I bothered watching was about three yrs ago and I couldn't name any of the acts/performers aside from Jerry, Ed, and about two or three others...

  • "Lucky mee!"

    lol

  • Love the second part of the reunion!! Thx! Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin amazing too!

  • 4:21 one of the funniest thing a ever seen XD!!!

  • I could watch these boys all day long! Esecially Dean, I love that man! =)

  • YA DEANO WAS 1 COOL DUDE

  • A great time, the good old days. They were and all are great's in thier own way. Dean needed glasses early, that's why he stopped in min lines.

  • classic...only jerry lewis and don rickles r still alive..i love old hollywood...to bad those guys r gone...but they will b alive 4 ever on video

  • Thank you!

  • at this age of 43 years old, dean martin's coolness is something to be admired. when i was a kid, of course i loved jerry and i thought dean was a prude. funny how life is.

  • Just 2 of the greatest performers having a ball!!!! Thanks for the post!!!

  • This clip and its predecessor: Three giants, owning the room, all at the same time. Attention, any budding entertainers: POST-GRADUATE STUDIES.

  • Dean making again his old joke about the pianist playing in the cracks, it's always so funny... but either he pretended damn well, or he had indeed had some whiskey in his apple juice... love Dino!

  • Thanks for posting. I have asked for the whole video clip for years. But I bet they didn't market it because he actually seemed really drunk. Frank later joked about that --said that they hid Dean in a closet --and he could only bend one arm ( demonstrating a drinking posture ). He might NOT have been kidding.

  • Look how nervous Jerry is at about 20 seconds in here, you can't fake that...

  • lol poor dino couldnt see the prompter

  • wow martin andlewis and sinatra classic!!!!

  • quie se imagina , al ver esto en directo que seria parte de la historia de la television ...tres grandes un lujo .....impagable
