I have a 49 ft meridian and this trio looks intresting. If i have a bridge clerence of 18 ft should i clear all the bridges.

What are the guard gates for? Stopping marauding speedboats from Canada?

Our trip will take us to Newfoundland via the St. Lawrence and then down the coast of Nova Scotia, Maine and eventually RI.

Hi Charlie,
The guard gates can close so that they can do repairs on the down-canal locks. In the event of a break in a canal wall, guard gates can be lowered, to prevent water from long stretches of the canal being released.
