  • Baterias sendo conduzidas por bateristas verdadeiros!

  • So this was a TV broadcast, right? What's the story?

  • Incredible, incredible.

    Thank you for this video.

  • Damm..

  • I saw them together at the Metropole in the late 50's It was great.

  • Drum duett sounds better than drum battle! Good!

This is a great video!!! I love these guys!

  • What a great video, it seems to show that they were friends.

Was the matched grip (see Cozy Cole) common (for soloing) at the time?

  • They had a drumming school together in New York .

  • I didn't think the match grip came along till much later?

  • That looks awesome. I wish I could've been there. The quality of the microphones just dont do those guys justice.

  • great drummers, i wonder why this shitty pop music can showcase at least one of those...

  • 2 WORLD CLASS DRUMMERS,,FAB,,,

  • These guys were not just friends but business partners. I watched them many times in New York city while I was in the service. Alone or together they were something to see. Can you imagine walking into the Metropole and seeing Gene Krupa on one end of the stage and Cozy gole on the other end with guys like Milt Hinton, Red Allen, Charlie Shavers, etc between them. What great nights they were. These guys never seemed to get tired of doing what they did best. What Great stuff.

  • I cannot only imagine going in to the Metropole but actually went there many times in the late fifties. Saw Cozy Cole and Krupa. The front was open and the drummers were right there outside playing. Later the Metropole became a girlie bar.

  • @Jim275 You lucky dog you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wow, a treasured memory indeed. I wish I could crawl inside your brain and extract THAT memory. Thanks Jim for sharing your special memory. John-Hans Melcher "TheQuietDrummer"

  • I must play this video several times a day. It's the greatest drum battle I ever heard. I wish I was around to go to their school. I'd love to see the whole video of this show.

  • Big thanks to whoever posted this. Cozy Cole was my uncle and I grew up hearing about him. This was really the first time I really heard him play.

  • That is so cool! Does anyone in your family still play? Maybe carrying on the tradition???

  • Cozy ws your Uncle? How cool is that?!!! I listened to his music throughout the fifties, he and Gene just can't be beat. The BEST.

  • Perfection is difficult to describe.

  • The rehearsal is from the first Timex All Star Jazz Show, Dec. 30th, 1957. The broadcast version is from the second Timex show, April 30th, 1958.

  • Look at Cozy's ever-present smile. He and Gene were best friends in real life and it shows here. Together they owned a drumming school in New York until Gene died. Thanks for the upload!

  • The Gene Krupa Cozy Cole School Of Drumming closed well before Gene died.

  • oh man,.. fantastic! And cozy with a smoke in his mouth,... talk about old school cool.

  • Great stuff, thanks !!!
