  • thumbs up for buffalo

  • lol. you sound like a bunch of grad students ... sad i know this

  • Why do people think Buffalo is bad for the weather? I LOVE the snow.. shame Buffalo is ridden with crime and is just plain ugly.

  • WOW

  • awesome

would love to experience one of these one day

  • That's amazing!

  • I've done my warm coastal thing - lovely. Like to visit. But I like our variety. I like fall and winter just fine. Winter can get as old as heat that simply won't let up.

Friends in Phoenix shut themselves in pretty much like we do. Our winter is their summer pretty much -

  • Isn't Chicago, known as the windy city?

  • @louiseo0905 Not because of the wind! Chicago is called the 'Wind City' because of a bunch of 'Windy' politicians the city used to have.

  • Thatz Crazy!!!

  • I live in the North Carolina mountains and I we got 2 feet of snow in less than 8 hours just now.

    ??

  • Wow! I think I will move to Buffalo!! Here in NW Massachusetts, we can't get snow to save our life! We have maybe a whimpy 1 or 2" on the ground and right before Christmas!! Please send some of that here! lol

  • This sounds like it was shot from the New Zealand embassy. I can hear Jemaine in the background say "winter wonderland" at 0:54. rofl

  • I love Lake Effect snow. I remember, cutting a vacation short in Florida and driving back to Buffalo.

  • reminds me of the movie "the mist" ohhh that crappy movie...

  • Lake effect in salt lake valley = hell

  • That's scary o.o All of a sudden a huge mist comes out of nowhere lmfao

  • Wow this is pretty amazing how it rolls in like fog.

  • THAT is almost scary...

  • @BillyJoe316 It is especially if you're driving right into it and realize what's coming right at you. Even scarrier is when you hear thunder and see lightning going off in the middle of a lake effect snow storm. Believe me!

  • @Cavillier1970 Wow!! That's so cool! I lived in Georgia in 1973. On Feb. 9, 1973, we had a freak snowstorm come in from the Gulf of Mexico, dumped 18 to 20 inches of snow in little over 24 hours!! It thundered and lightning during the night. When it would lightning you could see the snow coming down!! I will never forget it!

Now I live in the Northeast in Western Massachussetts, and we only have 2" of snow on the ground!! LOL!! I have seen more snow in Georgia!!!

  • @nodlon20 Hell 2 & 1/2 weeks ago we had 42" that fell in my neighborhood of South Buffalo. It took everyone at least three days to free up the streets but a number of sidewalks are still blocked up.

  • LOL.... I'm originally from Cleveland and this was a WONDERFUL reminder of that Great Lakes weather. I love ATL but I definately miss weather with a lot of CHARACTER!

  • Buffalo has more days with temperatures over 60F than we do with snow on the ground. We are sunnier than Orlando, Fl. and we're considered the "Sunshine Capital of the Northeast". Now, will you smug out-of-towners please aim your climatological condescension at more appropriate targets?

  • No, wait, don't give away the secret!! We are trying to keep the bad image so we can keep our 15 minute commutes from the suburbs, low pollution, low crime, low risk of natural disasters, lack of poisonous creatures, easy access to abundant fresh water, 4 seasons worth of nature change and awesome variation in outdoor seasonal sporting activities (where else can you ice fish, jet ski, and snow ski all within a few minutes from home?). I'll keep the bad rep if it means we get this to ourselves.

  • @chuzrodriguez doesn't know what he's talking about! It's terrible here! The weather is really awful. I'm thinking of moving away it's so bad. Sometimes it snows 7 feet at once! Really!

Oh, and the crime is really bad, and there's nothing to do here. It's very sad. Much better to live in NY City, where I'm moving... soon.

  • Not soon enough. Enjoy your 800sq ft condo for $150K. Really?

  • @chuzrodriguez Try more like $500K+ in Manhattan my man.

  • @chuzrodriguez ha ...yea i know hes gonna love the piss infested streets of NYC

  • shutup. forrrreal buffalo is an amazing city with a great outdoor recreation system. and the weather has character!

  • @greenapplesnapple you're an idiot. go move out to the suburbs.

  • @greenapplesnapple Yer just a bum who whiness and crys bout nothing to do... Your why this city is not going anywhere. Get up and do something like supporting a local band instead of all this out of town bullshit.. Buffalo is awesome. Buffalo get barly any attention because no one from Buffalo wants to support Buffalo..

  • @chuzrodriguez low crime? are you joking?

  • Yeah, but Buffalo is a crime-ridden shit hole of the north east too.

  • @SonicGeneration naaa Buffalo is the jewel of the great lakes just be carefull when visiting the east-side, and west-side at night. Might wanna stay alert in parts of south buffalo and up north in niagara falls

  • @BearsysRevenge I love Buffalo. I'm from Texas and I always fly into Buffalo. I know it's not the same at it was in the 50s and the economy has taken it's toll on the town. But there is a distinct feeling in Buffalo. I don't know what it is, but it keeps me going back. Love the Beef on Weck sandwiches!

  • @BearsysRevenge uh huh. that's why Buffalo is such a Spring Break mecca. what good is sunshine when it is 10 degrees outside and there is 3 feet of snow on the ground?

  • AWESOME video! I live in the suburbs of Buffalo (Depew/Cheektowaga) and wow that is crazy. I assume those are the lights from the ball park that you can see. but wow... what a sight.

  • Yeah, snow squall off lake Erie. I know them well...

  • that was very fast and is not like the rain moves here in LA,CA.

  • You should turn this into a time-lapse. Nice video.

  • I live 2 mins. from their and it IS snow we watch it happen several times in late fall.

  • no thats lake efect snow fog does not comin like that

  • you're wrong, you can see the snowflakes. and that is how it happens. i live in pulaski, ny it's called the "snowbelt" for a reason

  • i like the commentary on this video as even more than the vid .. is that from HSBC building?

  • Beats a blackout any day of the month!

  • I remember that happening because it was my birthday and my friends and I were out to dinner and I was wearning flip flops and when we came out of the restaurant there was already several inches of snow and I had to walk through it.

  • fog makes things white? didnt know that. you obviously dont know buffalo lake effect hah

  • lol. maybe to a kid that lives far from buffalo or any kind of snow, that looks like fog. =P

  • lol yes u r right

  • Not fog, look at the roof of the parking garage cars are covered in snow by end of video

  • Falling snow looks like fog from far away. In fact, going through heavy snow rates has the same effect on density as thick fog. Anything more than a few hundred feet disappears into a wall of total whiteness in which nothing becomes distinguishable.

  • that sucked big deal i live in ohio and get lake effect all the time and its not that bad

  • ohio is not new york.

  • wow, this scene's crazy.

  • upstate NY for you

  • fuckin sweet

  • badass

    buffalo bison's field?

  • yea

  • this was at the center right? thats a great vid.

  • Dunn Tire Park is the ballfield in downtown Buffalo- nice vid, thanks

  • Thanks for contributing to the brain drain here. It's a niche market for sure.

  • hell yeah looks like michigan's west coast grand beach michigan just got 2 feet this week and we are starting to work on our

3rd right now. soilder on buffalo!

  • Hey, whats lake effect snow?

  • It´s when masses of dry air are moving over water. They suck water from the sea and it snows.

  • Whoa thats nuts, creepy. Does take a special person to live there.

  • its actually when cold air move over the comparatively warm waters of the lake, it produces snow

  • Its caused from mass evaporation when the air is much colder then the water. Like if anyone heard of the october storm. It was like 70 degrees on monday is I remember, and the temperature suddenly dropped so like 20 degrees on friday, October 13. It was insane. It just kept comin down and down and down. With little warning from the weather guys, who predicted some lake effect, but not like that. I remember before the storm, i was driving home from school and there was steam coming up from all

  • the waterways. I'll never forget (I was 12 at the time) when the snow started coming down, no major snow, just a few flakes. I said mom? do u think we'll have a snow day? She just laughed, and said, tyhey wouldnt cancel snow if theres a foot of snow on the road. Which btw, is true, because buffalo (well the suburbs of buffalo) are so great with handling snow, it takes a lot for a snow day. Now, keep in mind that it's fall, and there are still leave on the trees....

  • While is was sleeping at night, i just heared, crack, crack boom. crickle crackle boom. Constantly! The power went out about 11pm, and the cracking didnt stop. I woke up, looked out the window, the once street that was a wonderland of trees and scenery, nothing but 2 feet of snow, and covered trees and branches. Destruction everywhere. I have to admit, I cried. I coouldnt believe my eyes. Nothing, not my home, not m neighboorhood, a disaster. There were trees on houses, a tree on a car...

  • trees everywhere! a few trees were still standing, but were missing 80% of the branches. We stayed inside the 40 degree house, cause outside was too dangerous, cause the of the power lines down and the trees and everything. The snow was melted by day 3 of no power. I would prefer the snow still on the ground. our front lawn was covered with branches. Then on day 5, the clean-up began. We movded all the branches to the curb, where eventually they would be picked up....

  • day 14 of no power (or school) red x's were painted on 99% of the half down trees, that meant the trees were to be cut down. day 15 of no power. our power is finally back on, and school resumes the next day. There was piles of branches on everybodys lawn that werent completely cleaned up for over a month. The storm is over, the mess is cleaned up, and life is back to normal about a month and a half later. But our neighborhood wil never be the same...

  • I forgot to mention, our basement flooded with a few inches of water, destroying almost everything. In all, I think 15 deaths. I apologize for outrages long story, I shortened all of it as much as I could. If you are interested iin the full story, then e-mail me at mapew9319@aol(dot)com and I will send it you.

  • Lake effect snow is when we get hammered. If you live in buffalo and hear anything involving the words Lake, Effect, and Snow in the same sentence, that means it's time to wrap up the social gathering and head home before you end up stranded in the middle of a white out on the highway. Bad news.

  • Great view of it rolling in! Thanks! I live on the edge of the snowbelt near Seneca Lake

  • upstate ny baby, thats how we roll lol

  • Yup, we get that like everyday up here in Barrie, Ontario, in fact, as I'm writing this right now, it is snowsqualling right at this very moment, lol, it really sucks that Ontario is surrounded by the great lakes, then we get hammered on all sides, lol! If I remember, last year we got 135 inches of snow or so.....

  • Hey

    NYLADY13601

    Not lake effect snow.

I'm sure you got a future gig in meteorology!

  • i remember that shit haha i love buffalo

  • HA HA HA I was on the 190 when that happed!!!

  • Ahh. My home town! Gotta love it! Nice video.

  • That was awesome. I wish something like that would happen in Duluth, MN, where I live. We get lake effect every once in a while during the winter, but never all the sudden like that.

  • I love this city!

  • Oh..That´s amazing!

  • Oh please....Watertown, Sandy Creek, Pulaski, Oswego areas get more snow than Buffalo.

  • NYLADY - Thanks! Buffalo does have an overly bad rep. I've lived in Buffalo my whole life and I would NEVER move to Watertown for the snow THEY get.

  • the whole tug hill area gets blasted

  • @NYLADY13601 who would wanna live in water town???

  • Comment removed

  • @tannersmith44 ....Well, we all can't live in paradise now can we? You can ask that same question to people who live in California (earthquakes, fires, mudslides) . Coastlines (hurricanes). Midwest (tornados).

  • @NYLADY13601 i live in buffalo

  • Wow, amazing, thats why Buffalo is called the snowy place ....

  • i meant in the recent storm, not this noe

  • I burn fossil fuels and spray aerosol cans! Where's my global warming, damnit?!

  • that is crazy that some places have had 100+ inches in a week

  • WoW!!!!

  • Yeah it was cool, but the traffic on the drive home sucked.

  • Wow. Good catch.
