When you say in the description, 'by first getting rid of that paint test I did on the engine," did you use the wire brush attachment to remove paint from your engine block? I need to remove high heat spray paint from my block from a previous owner's doing, and i was thinking about picking one of these up.
Yeah i was removing the paint. but just be careful with wires and cables.. hehe
You could also try paint remover. but be sure to mask the area you dont want to have paint removed.. hehe dont want to spray the body panels by mistake with paint remover.

thats under the drivers side door..
im just glad all the rust is hidden from sight.
if you just walk around the car it looks like there is 0 rust.. but once you start looking under the car and under the hood you find all the rust.
have you seen my Geo Metro rust video? there is worst rust spots on that video.

brushing the rust with toothpaste works too. just a really fat pain if you have a lot of rust.... XD
