Fabulous film. The Doors 1991 by Oliver Stone doesnt compare! Saw this documentary on American Masters (where they edited it and pissed me off). Bought the DVD when it came out and can't believe how much of it had been censored by the PBS. Get the DVD, you won't be disappointed.

Its only been shown at a few film festivals; Oliver Stone is preventing a somewhat large nationwide release of the film in theaters. It was supposed to be released last August, but for some mysterious reason(Oliver Stone), it didnt happen....

it came out in the Sundance film festival in January 09,but if my sources are correct (The Doors website) they are editing the narration cause now it's planning to be narrated by Johnny Depp so who knows maybe in 2010 it's gonna be released in theaters with Johnny's input....can wait!

I've been waiting for this movie since it the news of it officially came out over the internet. I'm a patient person with too small of a wallet to travel half the way across the country to go to Sundance. I considered hitchhiking in honor of Mr. Mojo Risin :) Don't think things are quite the same as they used to be though. Needless to say, I'm growing increasingly impatient for this to come out on dvd or into theaters if it does. Anxiety is KILLIN ME. Looks Great, can't wait.

Time and dementia has mellowed the remaining Doors to such an extent, they only reminisce the Morrison era with nostalgic romanticism and times forgotten rhetoric. Check out previous documentary interviews by the remaining Doors pre Oliver Stone and you will find during the anecdotal individual interviews, they did nothing but bitch about Morrisons antics and behaviour. Great musicians but contradicting tossers.

scenes never seen, embroidery frames, races in the desert, strolls, waterfalls, writings of records material unknown, all very different of dvds that they always show the same images excellent script, narration and edition that mixes events of that time with the history of the band. very good!
