what I hate about the bmw 5 series reviews it that, when it handles like sports car, it's very, very uncomfortable and hard, and thats very bad. this 5 series became more comfortable, but as cars get bigger and heavier, ofc that the handling will not be so good. and all of a sudden, even when it's still the best handling car in it's class, it's disappointment. so now, when it has the best handling and comfort, it's kind a failiure... I hate this unrealistic type of reviews...
This guy needs to know that if you add options such as Adaptive dampers, the ride is better than the old car. The reason it is an option so buyers have the choice if they need superior driving dynamics.
SIMPLY HILARIOUS Can a car production get any uglier in and out. Yes it can, it is BMW. ummmmm ok, so our family have owned 5 series for over 15 years....6 cars to be exact, and of all those cars (just purchased a 2010 535i) it is the best looking 5 series i have ever experienced. all this talk about backwards styling, i cant understand it, it looks so aggressively futuristic in profile! the only 5 series i have ever hated was the e60, edna everage with a fake as? come on...this is extremely impressive, even though pictures and videos give this car none of its feel and presence.
only thing in this car that i don't like is exterior except rear lights....bmw 5series 2007 that i'm going to buy is so beautiful but in this one there is not that "face" that i love at BMW

I prefer the old 5 Series. BMW always have the fat straight centre console which personally is not my cup of tea. In saying that, the Z4 has the best interior design of all BMWs. They should have just let the girls to do the interior from now on.
Some interesting observations in the film that, tellingly, Beemer fanbois don't like to hear. The car is very good but it simply isn't the quantum leap forward like the E34 and E39 or radical departure with the E60. The new 5 illustrates the struggle the company has had over its identity and future direction - it simply does not have the focus and sheer excellence of previous iterations.
Bangle's BMW's were all plug ugly. The piggy 1 series, the slabbly 5, the awkward 7...his gawky designs replaced sleek, handsome cars like the E46, E39, the old 7 ... with odd silly shapes and lumps. I for one find the new 5 looks 100% better and would definitely consider one next time around...though I think the new baby Jag looks very promising at the moment...

You are absolutely right. The Jag is more expensive and the brand is not as appealing as it used to be.. maybe because of design, fueleconomy, price for spareparts etc.. Jags used to be a more premium car then BMW, those days are over however, memory still remains in Brittain. It's a gorgeous car to look at, the new angel eye are strikingly beautiful.. it's just too much of a 7 series. It's far less difference between the new 7 series, than it was between the e60 and the e65 bmw. Disappointed a bit.
BUT it's the very best choice if one businessman doesn't want the new E class Flashy-sexy-shmexy look. It's refined, it shows status. Hope to see the m5 soon, now that should be one interesting car!

Its looks so bland and its tailights scream japanese just like the new 7 tailights. The headlights are a little better in my opinion but the whole body style and shape is just akward. Bmws have always had an agressive look, especially from the front. Say what u want but this one, just doesnt, plain and simple.
I like the reserved styling but I wish they would have made it sportier. BMW should focus on agility and handiling. If someone wants a quieter smoother alternative, get an E350 Benz.
I just cant wait... 10 or 15 years from now. What will be said about this version of the 5series and all of the cars that are comming out now. As in what will this Era be titled in this history books? As in is it the Recession Era where automakers try to go a bit more suddle in design attempts because of trends that view excess & flaunting in a negative manner.. Both Audi and Mercedes make conservatively styled cars, designs that everyone admits look good. This "older-looking" 5 series looks fantastic; this is the 5 series that its predecessor should have been had Bangle not done his best to ruin another BMW.

One really has to view the car live. Flared nostrils, long hood, sloping roofline, low stance, bilateral twin exhaust. It definitely looks better than the E60! Furthermore the 535i is agile and fast like a cheetah!
This review is NOT accurate. i test drove this car. F10 is a better performer with better road handling and stability than any other sedan in its class. the engine is so smooth yet very powerfull. transmission is almost not noticeable..comfy suspension, beautifull interior with a sound classical bimmer look.

Old one more progressive, more aggresive looking, better 'eyes'. Low and behold the e-class is better looking and maybe the better car. I thought the reviewer was very honest and everything he said made sense. It's comments like "u suck !....bmw 5 rocks !!" and "It's just a rubbish review" which get on my nerves. They can never explain why it's a rubbish review funnily enough.
This guy was mind numbingly dull. But having said that, so is the car. Really think BMW has taken a step back with the new chunkier looking shapes...the flame surfacing design style on the last shapes was a really nice direction. 5 series always seem to go good bad good bad with the looks for me.
i think the new 5 series is a great car, i do like Chris bangles design of the previous one bt this design is more of a successor to the e39 then the last. the mercedes looks ugly in my opinion

ummmmm ok, so our family have owned 5 series for over 15 years....6 cars to be exact, and of all those cars (just purchased a 2010 535i) it is the best looking 5 series i have ever experienced. all this talk about backwards styling, i cant understand it, it looks so aggressively futuristic in profile! the only 5 series i have ever hated was the e60, edna everage with a fake as? come on...this is extremely impressive, even though pictures and videos give this car none of its feel and presence.

Audi has excellent built quality, good all wheel drive, space in the back and looks better or same but not less beautifull.

I prefer the old 5 Series. BMW always have the fat straight centre console which personally is not my cup of tea. In saying that, the Z4 has the best interior design of all BMWs. They should have just let the girls to do the interior from now on.

Some interesting observations in the film that, tellingly, Beemer fanbois don't like to hear. The car is very good but it simply isn't the quantum leap forward like the E34 and E39 or radical departure with the E60. The new 5 illustrates the struggle the company has had over its identity and future direction - it simply does not have the focus and sheer excellence of previous iterations.

Bangle's BMW's were all plug ugly. The piggy 1 series, the slabbly 5, the awkward 7...his gawky designs replaced sleek, handsome cars like the E46, E39, the old 7 ... with odd silly shapes and lumps. I for one find the new 5 looks 100% better and would definitely consider one next time around...though I think the new baby Jag looks very promising at the moment...

You are absolutely right. The Jag is more expensive and the brand is not as appealing as it used to be.. maybe because of design, fueleconomy, price for spareparts etc.. Jags used to be a more premium car then BMW, those days are over however, memory still remains in Brittain. The worst part is when britts acutally compare a ford to a BMW...have seen this in topgear and these guys actually believe a ford focus is "best car in its class". Come on now. Face the facts that germans do better cars!

It's a gorgeous car to look at, the new angel eye are strikingly beautiful.. it's just too much of a 7 series. It's far less difference between the new 7 series, than it was between the e60 and the e65 bmw. Disappointed a bit.
BUT it's the very best choice if one businessman doesn't want the new E class Flashy-sexy-shmexy look. It's refined, it shows status. Hope to see the m5 soon, now that should be one interesting car!

Haha i love how all the bmw fans are making fun of this guy cause hes telling the sad truth about the car. My brother owns the new 5 and to be honest.. its boring. Its looks so bland and its tailights scream japanese just like the new 7 tailights. The headlights are a little better in my opinion but the whole body style and shape is just akward. Bmws have always had an agressive look, especially from the front. Say what u want but this one, just doesnt, plain and simple.

I like the reserved styling but I wish they would have made it sportier. BMW should focus on agility and handiling. If someone wants a quieter smoother alternative, get an E350 Benz.

I just cant wait... 10 or 15 years from now. What will be said about this version of the 5series and all of the cars that are comming out now. As in what will this Era be titled in this history books? As in is it the Recession Era where automakers try to go a bit more suddle in design attempts because of trends that view excess & flaunting in a negative manner.. I love BMW's in fact All automobiles. I just would like 2know how this model will be judged in the future for the time it was made in.

wow the man who cant find a better word to use than grown up says the new BMW 5er is bland i think that is the biggest word he used in this review .... if you are going to obviously hate a car dont review it and 2 the old BMW 5 was ugly and far from classy so the more conservative styling is a return to BMW's tradition style with some modern design cues so if you feel you can make a better car by all means please do and let the consumers judge it i'm sure you will fail miserably

Both Audi and Mercedes make conservatively styled cars, designs that everyone admits look good. This "older-looking" 5 series looks fantastic; this is the 5 series that its predecessor should have been had Bangle not done his best to ruin another BMW.
Is it just me, or does the the current 7 series look like a chubby, bloated version of this beautiful 5 series?

The old BMW just looks unusual but not necessarily modern. The new model has an athletic, sleek and low sporty stance that is just right for the new decade. I bet this will be the biggest selling 5 to date.

One really has to view the car live. Flared nostrils, long hood, sloping roofline, low stance, bilateral twin exhaust. It definitely looks better than the E60! Furthermore the 535i is agile and fast like a cheetah!

This review is NOT accurate. i test drove this car. F10 is a better performer with better road handling and stability than any other sedan in its class. the engine is so smooth yet very powerfull. transmission is almost not noticeable..comfy suspension, beautifull interior with a sound classical bimmer look.

I reckon the e-class is going to give this one a good run fro its money this time around, but then I would have the xj anyway, which is more daring than either...boy has the world changed.

Stop being ignorant and listen to what this experienced reviewer is saying. He said it's still a brilliant car but it's no longer a class leader as it was before. He never said it was crap.
This was a review about a pretty dull car, so if you expected lots of fun entertainment then go back to watching Top Gear or something.
The review was spot on and very honest.

I thought the reviewer was very honest and everything he said made sense. It's comments like "u suck !....bmw 5 rocks !!" and "It's just a rubbish review" which get on my nerves. They can never explain why it's a rubbish review funnily enough.

This guy was mind numbingly dull. But having said that, so is the car. Really think BMW has taken a step back with the new chunkier looking shapes...the flame surfacing design style on the last shapes was a really nice direction. 5 series always seem to go good bad good bad with the looks for me.
