Can you imagine for many years later kids and people getting GRP splnters in their feet and body thru this stupid action. GRP splinters are not nice and very painfull even the dust can make you itch for days ...Crazy authorities.dont you think ?????....
Im surprised "enviromentally aware" california allowed this to happen, all that grp debris pounded into the sand and dust particals in the air? why not crane or haul it out the beach? a big fuck up if you ask me.
@dreamsfgh "Im surprised "enviromentally aware" california allowed this to happen"
I live in California.
All that crap about environmental awareness? It's just to shake down small businesses and keep property taxes high, and to prevent competition in land development.

@Teridor2 I'm just saying the myth of California being obsessed with the environment is just a myth.
I live in Silicon Valley, where a house will cost at the MINIMUM (a house, not a townhome) of $350,000 in any non gang area. You'd expect with that sort of cost that you'd see solar panels all over homes, because it only adds like 5% to the cost of your house to run entirely off from solar energy. and we always have sun.
It takes months or years to build boats yet they can be destroyed and reduced to rubble in minutes by diesel tractors. Poor boat. Were there no other alternatives to save it?
Did the owners stick around to watch the destruction?
I had the honor of meeting this once beutifull boat owner - Mr Larry. also spent a time on her deck. this is a sad story that should have never happend, this boat was supposed to sail around the world, after years of prepearing... the carmina mare was a beutifull soul . may she rest in peace
@ToonandBBfan Captain Larry did get the bill courtesy of Los Angeles County Dept of Beaches and Harbors. The boat was anchored in 40 mph winds there is nothing but sand to anchor to off playa del rey. He lost it all. Larry lived and worked on the boat. It would of been better inside the sheriff impound dock behind the breakwater.Capt Larry said people become overly attached to personal property.
Sorry to say that it is hard to have much sympathy. The guy anchored it in an area which is free, but dangerous, a very bad choice. I would NEVER leave my boat unattended at anchor. I read that he was at his girlfriends house at the time.
Every year, during a blow, a boat or two breaks free and goes aground in that area. A foolish thing to do.

Wouldn't it have been easier to push it away in one piece rather than break it up their leaving tons of pieces to clean up?

@kdw75 It would have if possible, but you could see the boat wasn't moving when they pushed on it. The keel's likely buried in the sand there.

Where on the coast of Mexico did this occur? The weather in Northern Mexico is typically balmy and nice.
