  • omg you sound so immature! grunting is not awkward, its completely natural when lifting max weights. you saying 'don't grunt' makes YOU sound like an am mature.

  • The biggest thing that annoys me when I'm at the gym is when I'm in the middle of a hard set and random people walk up to me and ask "hey do those work?". or other questions about what I'm doing. I am not a rude person but I don't like answering questions while I'm working out. It makes me loose my concentration.

  • I can grunt whenever the fuck I wanna grunt!

    GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you are lifting heavy weights and you are going to failure then you will grunt. It comes with the territory. So cut us some slack.

  • i hate it when ppl throw their free weights down n make a huge racket, makes me want to throw the weight in their face

  • When I first started going to the gym there was this guy who walked around the gym barefoot! Yes, BAREFOOT! He just walked around and did his workouts with no shoes nor socks on (he wasn't on the treadmill or anything like that, he was walking around the strength training zone). I thought it was really disgusting!

Also, I don't get when people go to the gym just to socialize! Some girls go to my gym and spend no more than 30 minutes in there and do nothing but be noisy and obnoxious! -.-

  • When people stare at me while I workout!!

  • When girls wear makeup to the gym. What is the purpose of that? Nobody is looking at you anyways! You're there to work out, not to pick up a cute guy! Its going to sweat off anyways. It irks me so much.

  • @motoko241 I always work out when I'm finished working. So I will have my makeup on after the day. But some girls/women are just not comfortable without makeup. Please dont hate on that. Thats their problem.

And hey maybe when you least expect it, you might actually meet a guy at the gym, not that you where looking for it ;)

And please... mascaras wont sweat off.

  • when someone gets on a treadmill right next to you (even though there are fifteen empty ones) and looks over to see what yr doing and does the exact same thing

  • Pet peevs: Personal space. If there are 8 treadmills and only one is being used. Don't, I repeat, don't use the machine next to the person who is there. And the one I can't stand the most, please do not douse yourself with perfume/cologne prior to your workout. Why do some people do this!? I don't want to smell you, put your deodorant on and you should be good to go! I can't stress it enough. Puts me in a terrible mood, making me move 15 min into my run or cross training.

  • My pet peeves at the gym are people who sit on the equipment and chit chat with their friends. You're there to workout, and other people want to use the equipment!

People who will wait in their cars for ages waiting for parking rather than parking down the street a bit... you're going to the gym for exercise.... 50 steps to the door isn't going to kill you!

People who don't shower before working out in public or people who wear perfume to the gym. I don't want to smell you!

  • Can one still be entered in the giveaway?

  • @demonforeveryday It is closed! I do have one going on right now on my blog though for a heart rate monitor!

  • I go to the gym to workout not to criticize if people are grunting or not or doing whatever . I mind my own business :)

  • Enter me please :). That jacket is super cool. I don't really go to the gym since I workout from home. I have three little ones so finding time outside the house is slim to none. Anyways, one of my pet peeves is when people don't clean up behind themselves or wipe off equipment!

  • in fairness, I keep checking back to the treadmill bar because that's where the heart monitor is

  • @Tanaerian that is true!

  • I hate it when people stare at you at the gym!

  • I hate idiots who chat on phone..from business deals to shopping lists to hi baby chats... Specially at loud voice in the cardio theater

  • I hate when people don't wipe the machine off after using it..

  • I hold on to the machine but not the top. I hold on the handle in the front but I have vertigo and am afraid ill fall. It's not on a high incline but I weave like crazy if I don't :(

  • If you lift weights - real weights, not two-pounders, you will grunt. Try if you dont belive me...

  • Ooohhh i want that gym outfit!(:

  • I find it very hard not to grunt if I'm doing 300lbs on the squat.

  • i like the out fit

  • I hate when guys leaves their heavy weights on the machine...clean up behind yourself... No one s your maid!..If you do n't feel like putting them up, you probably should not be lifting that much. HAH!

  • I also hate when people are going too fast on the treadmill and then stop every 5 seconds to catch their breath but then talk about how manycalories they burned to their friends...uh no u didn't burn that many when ur stopping every 5 seconds..

  • Haha I hate when people hang on to the top of the treadmill too!! One lady at my gym does this then goes around bragging about how many miles she went. Weird.

  • Loose and short gym shorts and no underwear is a definite problem.

  • I hate when people look over my treadmill to read how many calories I've burned, how fast I'm going and so on.

  • "Is that what they sound like in bed?!" LMAO

  • Annoying= When the people on cardio machines are reading magazines/books while walking. Oh yeah, you'll get a great work out doing that! NOT.

  • @angie132008 why does it bother you?! At least they are at the gym...

  • @4countrygal4 why does it bother me? Because when someone is reading on a treadmill you know they're not taking it seriously. 9 times out of 10 they're overweight anyway. You go to the gym to put in work, sweat burn some fat, not read. Do that at home. You don't see me painting my nails or playing solitaire. why? because that's not what im there to do. "At least they are at the gym" and?? want a cookie? LOL gotta do more than just show up :) and didn't she ask us our pet peeves? hmm thought so.

  • @angie132008 I read when i am on the treadmill and am running, and i do get a good workout. I go as fast as i would if i didnt have anything to read, but if i dont have something to read then i will get bored and not want to run anymore.

  • woo~~ cool outfit

  • I don't get the flipflop thing, in Sweden NOBODY wears flipflops, everybody's barefooted. And I don't know anyone who's gotten any kind of disease. This germophobia is just ridiculous!

  • Love that outfit hopefully the contest is still going on n thanks for the info I just joined my local gym

  • Your my favourite .... X

  • The only people who won't understand the grunting are the ones who aren't lifting heavy enough.

  • Comment removed

  • The green screen isn't great.....

  • A couple of my pet peeves at the gym are when people are waiting for a machine you are using and they just stand there right behind you waiting, and when people look over at how much weight I am lifting or whatever. Those have to be the two most annoying things at the gym to me.

  • great!!

  • Thank you for doing this video (;

  • I love u sarah

  • haha.. I love how your squinty face looks when your trying really hard! ur funny and gorgeous.

  • It annoys me when people go to the gym just to socialize !...

  • My pet peeve is when people don't read signs at the gym. At my college's rec center there are signs that clearly say: "DON"T SPRAY CLEANER DIRECTLY ON THE MACHINES, IT CAN DAMAGE THE ELECTRICAL". But people right next to the signs spray like twelve sprays of cleaner right on there! They have rags that you're supposed to spray the cleaner on and then wipe the machines with. Half the ellipticals are usually malfunctioning. I told someone politely once and she got really angry with me.

  • Does the "no hands" rule apply to the elliptical too? I don't use hands on the treadmill, but I do on the elliptical...

  • I don't see anything wrong with people grunting, they're working hard so they're allowed to grunt. It's only awkward because you make it awkward yourself.

When people start talking to themselves about how good they're looking, that's when it gets awkward.

  • I can't stand it when people don't wipe their sweat off their machine. Part of me always wants to find the person who committed this monstrosity and give them a strongly worded talking to.

  • I really hate going to the gym, but I decided to start and try to stop caring so much about what people think of me. I decided to give my very best so that I could get the best results. However, when I work out and I'm going hared I might grunt or say "Whew" or something like that. I hate to bother people, but for so long thinking about other people is what kept me out of the gym. So I'm one of those people you named, but I've lost about six pounds and I have gained so much more confidence.

  • I dont agree with the grunting. I would much rather work out in a gym where people are putting the most effort into their workouts as possible. Thats much more motivating than the ones full of cardio bunnies whose entire workout is done on a cross trainer.

  • @Kittychan717 Clearly the view of an uneducated woman attending the gym. Observing yourself during an exercise allows you to examine your form throughout. It is not a case of being vain.

  • @AntoRoberts Yeah, but it's easy to tell the difference between someone who is looking in order to have good form or to motivate themselves, and those who just think they're the hottest thing. Those are usually the guys who make ridiculous attempts to hit on me and they're the worst part of going to the gym. That's definitely my biggest pet peeve! It's a gym, not a bar, don't flirt with me. I'm not wearing a tank top to entice you, random guy, I'm wearing it because I get warm during my workout!

  • Grunting allows for forced exhalation allowing you to perform better in the exercise. Granted some people may go over the top, a small amount of grunting is beneficial.

  • Their is an actual purpose to grunting. When you're lifting in a heavy set and you grunt, it allows an energy release and can actually help. That's one of the reasons behind power lifters doing it. So please don't hate on that, because they're doing a completely different style of training than you would. I do completely agree with you on people not talking to you during a set. I can't stand when someone asks me something during that time and I just ignore them.

  • @binyamj i completely agree. Telling someone not to grunt is like telling someone on the treadmill to not breathe heavily.

  • Top is really cool looking

  • Love the outfit! <3 When I was 14 I first begain going to the gym, I hated when people would just sit on the bikes looking at the T.Vs and not working out at all. Sarah they just sat there! Not even moving their legs a bit. All the other bikes would be taken. They sit there for the whole time I was there.

  • Good video

  • @Kittychan717 There is nothing at all wrong with loving yourself. Bodybuilders surely like to see their progress as well as maintain proportionality in the different muscle groups. It is nodifferent than a fat body getting on the scale after they just walked 20 minutes on the treadmill without breaking a sweat.. I love myself, you should love yourself as well.

  • i'm so guilty with holding onto the treadmil. I go at the highest incline, and it is super hard...but i'll make the effort of not doing that!

  • Great video with some great advice! One thing I really hate is when people stink of body odour, obviously your bound to get sweaty at the gym but that should then mean you wear a new set of fresh clothes next time! It's that stale swet smell that makes me feel sick when I'm at the gym, it puts you off and makes you think sub-consciously wow... Do I smell that bad?!

  • My thoughts on your "Not to does"

1: yes, holding on to the machine gives you nothing, correct

2: Stop Complaining, When you press your body to the max you sometimes grunt, get over it.

3: Correct, wipe the fuckim machines ppl!

4: I think your embarased about everything! Flipflops are silly.

5: Thank you! it needed to be said!

What I cant stand: People who are in the way, Curling in the squat rack... Using dumbels in the bench press aso!! Annoying f-ing ers!

  • @Siedlerdeo i do see your point along with other users in regard to the grunting. yes when you are pushing your bodies to its max potential limits, you sometimes naturally grunt. but then there are the 80% who grunts while curling a 10lb dumbbell and/or benching 80lbs. so taking the 80% of people who do it, her statement stands valid. keep in mind, not everyone at the gym pushes their bodies to the limit as you "inferred"

  • Love that outfit! Hope I can win it :)

  • I think that outfit is so adorable and id def want one! And there are many pet peeves I have at the gym but what I hate the most is when guys check me out at the gym, like im honestly still flattered and all but than they continue to stare and it just makes my workout super awkward, like im there to get deezed not look for eye candy ya know.

  • Comment removed

  • Hi sarah that outfit is exactly what I need!!!!!!!!!!! I would love it!

I hate it when people start singing to their music and they can't hear them selves because they have earphones in :) haha awkward……………

  • I never understand why people don’t wipe down the gym equipment. I find the people that sweat the most are the same ones that are too lazy to take 2 minutes to clean up after themselves!

Also dislike when someone saves a machine for a friend for more than 10+ minutes.

  • I want to win that outfit for sure! what better way to feel like I belong in the gym, looking good while sweating at the same time, yes I'm a girly girl but I want to know I still look put together

  • Those are good tips

  • yesterday I witnessed the lady-holding-onto-her-treadmill thing. you're right! it's soooo annoying!

  • @flip0891 anddd it was at 4 mph.

  • I looove that outfit! super cute! my pet peeve is when someone is listening to music and you can here it through their earbuds.

  • I would love to have the outfit!! One of my pet peeves is hitting on ppl in the gym. There's nothing wrong with it, but not when someone's busy. Chatting during a water break or rest is a better, but while I'm huffing and puffing during sets! It's a real turnoff!

  • when people stare at you while you work out!!

  • Your outfits makes me want to hit the gym!

  • Love that outfit! My pet peeve is when people are like looking over at your machine to see how far you've gone or how many calories you've burned! I can't stand it!

  • love your outfit:)

  • Woah that's an awesome jacket!

  • I REALLY wanna win that outfit, Sarah!!!!...My petpeeve at the gym is when people just stop and stare at me whilst working out, as if I'm doing something out of the ordinary!!

  • My pet peeve is people who look at you crazily for - gasp- sweating at the gym! It's a gym... I'm here to workout... not stand by the water fountain and socialize. Get you sweat on!

  • "oh my gawd, someone is grunting that's gross" No Sarah, that means they're working out hard...Don't like it? join Curves.

  • if you're arent grunting, you aint working hard enough.

  • I can't stand it when people din't wipe off the cardio machines. Including the seat.....

  • Love the outfit and the smart jacket. Someone was thinking when they designed it. Anyways my gym pet peeve is when someone starts talking on the phone. Some gyms don't allow people to talk on phone and some people just ignore that rule. It's gym time. Happy New Year, Dee

  • My pet peeve is when people don't sanitize the machines they use after they are done.

  • One of my pet peeves when I used to go to the gym is when you are using an equipment and someone is looking over your shoulder. making you hurry up your set. That really bugs the crap out of me. People are such impatient assholes.

  • I would LOVE to win this! jaclyn R.

  • I really love the outfit!!! Hope to get one too!!! :D

  • Hi! I just hate it when people pretend to know more than I do (if I'm weight lifting and working out peacefully and alone) and try to correct my moves and give me advice even if they don't know me and know nothing about my (PE) background!!! and just to show off!!!!

  • It annoys me to see people on the machines and on the phone... Pretending to work out lol

  • I don't go to the gym that often, but the last time I was there, the girl at the counter had (I'm assuming her boyfriend) with her. The entire time they were just really close and kept touching each other and looked like they were going to start making out any time. Since the gym I go is really small, you can see the counter from literally anywhere in the room, and it was extremely awkward to workout. It was one of those "please get a room" moments.

  • Love your outfit and videos! One of my pet peeves about the gym is when people wear yoga pants with bikini underwear instead of a thong. You can see the underwear lines and it makes people appear heavier even if they arn't. If you wear tight clothing on your bottom half spring for a thong or wear baggy pants. I was guilty of that myself when I was younger and I finally saw the light!

  • Hey!! I just discovered you and I am SO thankful for it!! Your body is amazing!!

My gym pet peeve is when someone is using a machine for WAY longer than he or she is supposed to, and it's quite obvious that I am waiting for them to get done so I can get a rep in. Be considerate!!

  • one thing i cant stand when i go to the gym is when people dont clean there machine off. Or when they are with there friends and just sitting on the machine doing nothing but socializing.

  • You CAN catch bacteria from the shower floors at the gym. The wet surface is a breeding ground!

  • can you do a video on kettlebell exercises? Thanks!

  • I actually do hold on to the treadmill in the beginning of the run, when i got my rhythm going I let go... I'm going for it this year, to get my weight down again to the point I feel comfortable in my body again, hope I'm not one of the many who forget about the new years resolutions in a month! Wish me luck!

  • I glad you said the pet peeve about talking to someone in the middle of a workout. I thought I was the only person who thought that!

  • Pretty cool video. I got rid of my gym member ship because every time I'd go Ppl would want to talk while I was doing my work out. I would loose track of reps. It was annoying. One time some one added to much weight to my leg press when I told them no. I'm not pushy which i doesnt help so my husband and I invested in a weights, bench, videos, jump rope, etc. And a friend gave us a treadmill. So I can workout by myself or with my husband. We also go on bike rides with our 3 lil princesses.

  • Hope to win!!!! :D

  • I agree with the whole socializing at the gym issue. But personally, I don't like to talk at all when I'm working out; I just want to be left alone to do my sprints on the treadmill in peace. That and because thanks to my Kindle, I use my gym time to catch up on reading.

  • When people look to see how many calories you've burned compared to how many they've burned! Also, when women dress like they are going to meet the president. Wearing full makeup and their hairs all made up.

  • thanks sarah, once again u provide us with great tips!

  • when people clearly punch above their weight on the weights (no pun intended) and lok like they are giving birth or having a huge poop...... and with the formentioned grunts..... and people that use a low resistance on cardio and go like a gazelle...try whacking it up>

  • Biggest pet peeve when doing yoga in an exercise room someone comes in and sees that you are on your iPod doing a relaxing exercise and blasts the stereo. Geez get some headphones!

  • The gym is the gym, as long as you're respecting the other people working out and learning how to properly use the equipment, who really cares what you look like or wear? If it's what makes you happy and makes you feel good, then great for trying. I don't really pay attention to other people at the gym, I like to focus on blowing off steam after a long work day. However, my top pet peve would have to be when people don't wipe down their machines when they're finished, yuck! Happy New Year!

  • Hope to win!!! :D

  • I hate it when I see people wearing jeans or hats to work out in. who works out in jeans?! lol

  • Hahaha your grunting comment made me laugh, because I totally agree with you! It is very awkward! I don't like it (more like hate it) when people sit on the machines and don't use it and just socialize with people! So stupid! And it makes me really angry when I want to use that machine!

  • i hate when i'm on a machine and the person on the machine next to me keeps looking over to see how fast i'm going, or how many calories i've burned. Oh i really can't stand that. lol

  • @Preshie10 ME TOO! Especially when I'm entering my age/weight. Don't people learn manners anymore? *sigh*

  • @Preshie10 Me neither. I've gotten in the habit of putting a towel over my screen, that way I don't get impatient either.

  • I don't like it when there are people who get on a cardio machine and bring a book or a magazine to read. It just looks weird to me

  • I love the outfit!!! Hope to win!!!

  • keep the gruntig to yourself...so true! another one is full on make up at the gym..totally unnecessary!

  • you seem really pissed in this video... maybe sound a little more friendly?

  • Comment removed

  • I totally agree with you Sarah! My main pet peeves are:

    1) People just sitting at the machines and not using them

    2) People talking to me at all. I go to the gym to get a good workout, not to socialize. It makes it very difficult to keep your heart rate up.

    3) Guys (or girls) that grunt or make weird noises. It makes it very awkward for anyone within the vicinity of the 'grunter'.

  • I agree with what you said about interrupting people while they are in the middle of a set. That's my biggest pet peeve!!!

  • @x1MissWorld1x haha i know! i also do interval so when i go up they go up then i go back down and they give me that 'really? you can only go for a minute?' look but its always a good feeling when they try to keep going fast and run out of breath after like 4 minutes and i'm still doing my intervals haha

  • I hate when people don't clean their equipment when they are done! I usually catch people doing it when they are switching to a different piece of equipment! I usually end up wiping down the equipment before AND after I work out. I also hate when someone comes in to use the elliptical or treadmill and they are not using any resistance, so the are going SUPER FAST. They are looking around judging people who are going slower than them.

  • Good advice!

  • My pet peeve is when unsupervised kids are in the workout area. Where are their parents or guardians? I'm worried they are to going to try some weight or exercise they cant do so I watch them just in case they are in over their heads. I go to my local YMCA and I see this now and then. Oh yeah...looking good Sarah ;)

  • wow like the new format of the video looks HD

  • This was such a cute video, loved it! :)

  • I would love to win that outfit. Thanks in advance. :>)

  • I CANNOT stand people who give you unsolicted advice at the gym.

  • Comment removed

  • I can't agree more with you about the grunting... Really, if you are working hard, keep it to your self :)

  • I've always wanted an awesome jacket/outfit to work out in!

  • Hope to win the outfit!!!:D

  • I really want to win the cool outift :D & I hate when people are staring at you when you are working out haha

  • @iaefblamefate totally agree!

  • great tips for "newbies", especially since i see a lot of this behavior at the gym! i laughed out loud at the grunting etiquette portion. Love the outfit! As usual, i thoroughly enjoyed your clip, thanks! happy and healthy new year!

  • my pet peeve are when ppl walk in the running lane of the track

  • Love the outfit!!! Hope to win it!!! :D

  • Old ppl who stop and talk to you while your in the zone.I go to a rec center and the older ppl who are sweet stop and talk to me bc I go real fast on the elliptical.I have to stop and talk bc their are my elders.Oh and chicks who go to the gym bc their dudes go..it messes up the energy of the room.

  • I hate when people talk into blue tooths while theyre working out. I have a membership to a gym where you plug your headphones into your machine and can watch the different TVs around the room...which helps me stay motivated at the gym. Helps me lose track of time and just work out while I am doin that "couch potato thing" haha... BUT it doesn't work out when people next to me are gabbing away as though the whole building needs to know their business!

  • Awesome tips!! Enter me! 😊

  • I hate it when people don't clean their machines and you get on and it's all wet and sweaty.....drives me so crazy!!! It's so disgusting. Enter me please! I'd love to win

  • It drives me bananas when I use a machine next to someone and they keep peeking over at my console to see how fast I'm going/how many calories I burned/etc. So annoying! Also, put your free weights back in the correct place! I get so annoyed when I can only find one 8lb hand weight and one 5lb hand weight. I'll be lopsided, people!

  • Great video....I am 13 years old and a little overweight I dont want to go to the gym but we are going to buy either a treadmill or a eliptical which one do you think is better?! please answer!! :)

  • @heartjilli1998 I am not an expert or anything, but I prefer the eliptical because it does not stress my knees as the treadmill does. You should try both out at the store and see which on you prefer. You are also young so I suggest doing exercises like jogging, swimming, playing sports.

  • Honestly I'm not really a fan of the green screen. My pet peeve is the guys at the gym who do like two reps with a heavy weight just to show off and then move on to the next thing.

  • always luv ur outfit....they r so adorable :)

  • Oooh I love that jacket! I hate it when guys (or gals) are standing around the equipment that you need to get to and they're either socializing or just admiring themselves in the mirrors. So obnoxious!

  • Women with full faces of makeup that go to the gym to just walk on the treadmill.

  • My biggest pet peeves are: (1) people who wear their outdoor manual-labor job clothes into the gym and proceed to spread mud and dirt all over the floor. BRING A CHANGE OF CLOTHES, FOLKS! and finally (2) people (mostly girls) who wear clothes to the gym with the express purpose of showing off their bodies to VERY inappropriate levels. If you have to hold your hands between your legs while you do hip abductor/adductor exercises... your shorts are too short.

  • I would love to win that outfit!!! :D

  • thanks sarah!! tell them!

  • Had to laugh at the "grunting" part....but what I do hate is watching guys lifting free weights and they're lifting wrong. For example, using their entire body to do a bicep curl because they're using too much weight. Also, guys who seem to just wander around the weight area. You see them lift here or there; but they're just wandering.

Sweet jacket....I'm starting up running again since giving birth and that jacket would be nice to have since my body's temp hasn't really settled back yet.

  • I hate in January when all of the New Years resolution people come because they only stay a month tops most but they just hog up the machines and take way more time then they should.

  • Gum cracking at the gym, I want to reach out and ring their ears with a dumbell!

  • i think it's awkward when people walk around stark naked in the changing room. I get you're showering and everything, but it's still public...

  • Love u Sarah!

  • if i get it will it make me shiny like you when I move?(: a pet peeve of mine at the gym is when girls are yelling or screaming on their blue tooth phones while working out. There might as well be another person at the gym with them. I am fine with you on the phone but when it gets to the point were I can hear you over my blaring music that's a problem.

  • The grunting is so awkward!! I hate that too. :)

  • Comment removed

  • People (usually men) who hog a specific weight machine in groups. So there will be a group of like 5, and they'll all take turns on the same machine. Seriously, half the time, they're just talking.

  • nice body suga pie
