Had Abbruzzese been playing he'd have brought his entire kit, probably with all 12,000 cymbals that he uses. Just like he did at Unplugged. The band didn't want too much focus on the percussion for this gig and decided to keep things as low-key as possible regarding who was playing it. You have to keep in mind they were still dealing with the fallout from sacking Abbruzzese. Notice how they waited 'til 3 months after this to even announce Irons as a permanent member.

  • You tell me which one is Best...

  • OK, who is the one a-hole who disliked this?

  • @barronoda her/his screen was upside-down

  • @barronoda

    Dave Abbruzzese.

  • i cry with this song

  • How the fuck can somebody dislike this?

  • My first Pearl Jam concert! Both days! As fucked as my life has been, moments like these are what makes it all bearable. I could cry when I go back and think how thankful I was to be there. I love this band more than I've loved anything!

  • Wow. This is amazing! I am speechless.....

  • can you say "genius"?

  • solo part is perfect

  • Love acoustic Pearl Jam.

  • Man... The bridge part before 3rd verse is so fucking awesome...

  • Agreed.

  • Eddie kinda looks like ross noble in this vid.

  • Sorry, can't see it.

  • Is it Jack Irons on drums?

  • Comment removed

  • Yes, it is.

  • yes

  • this song is bad ass!! the footage looks old as shit! not just '94.. anyways great video

  • I was there and had never seen any footage since! It brings back memories...

  • u were in your mommy s basement when pearl jam did that gig. dont lie boy, just dont lie

  • I can only wish I was that young...

  • So much feelings everytimes I hear this song...

  • I was at this show!!! I'm so glad you posted this!

  • I am a big Pearl Jam fan but never realised Eddie could play a guitar, and so badly too. Hey, no, just kidding. I reckon Vedder and the Jam will go down in history as one of the truly great bands.

  • That´s right!! we´ve got pearl jam!!!hahaah thank you so much!

  • maaaaaaaan, where's the rest of this show?! We know it's out there somewhere, so post it!

  • thats fuckin magical!, the privious generations had beatles, stones, zeppelin, floyed we have THE PEARL!

  • Jack Irons is easily the best drummer. First off he introduced Ed to the band. Second he saved the band. Third he was on No Code.

  • He may have been your favorite drummer but he was absolutely the worst in terms of skill and sound. Dave A was clearly the best in skill and sound, but Eddie hated him for being a conservative, a capitalist and ran him out of the band..and that's just a fact.

  • Guitarist Stone Gossard said, "It was the nature of how the politics worked in our band: It was up to me to say, 'Hey, we tried, it's not working; time to move on.' On a superficial level, it was a political struggle: For whatever reason his ability to communicate with Ed and Jeff was very stifled. I certainly don't think it was all Dave Abbruzzese's fault that it was stifled."[6] Abbruzzese stated, "I didn't really agree with what was going on. I didn't agree with the Ticketmaster stuff at all.

  • check that, jack irons

  • wow, the stare he's giving at the camera when he sings swept out through the cracks beneath the door. might be thinking about k.c.

  • oh my. chills. pj never toured much in 95,96 (if at all) because of f ing ticketmaster. so how cool. mike looked a pinch thin in the skin back then. that looks like dave k in the background. boo hiss ;) dave a was their best drummer.

  • that's jack irons drumming, dave K was only in the band for the recording of Ten, before he checked himself into rehabilitation............and i disagree, i think matt cameron is the best drummer they've had.

  • wow speechless

  • this was the first time it was ever played live

  • no no

the first time was in April 11th, 1994.

this, in Bridge School, was actually the 3rd time they have ever played it.

  • you are right...do you know why they never play leash live by the way?

  • no no, they play it as well

they've played it this year also

  • kick ass.

  • Cigar box on the floor? and you don't think it's about kurt, read the coroners report, they all seem to say there was a cigar box on the floor with the suicide note inside.

  • wow.

  • Eddie's playing in San Diego in April,a short solo tour, but ticket's are STARTING at about 250.00!!It's KILLING me,cause I had sooo planned on going:(.But I guess it's a West Memphis Three benifit, that's part of the reason tickets are so high, that and it being a "solo" tour.I'm crushed!!!Anyway, love this song, sooo beautiful and great messege!!Probably the best vesion I've found on youtube.Once again, the G-man brings us another great one, thnx!!!

  • This version is about kurt, but he had drafted a version prior to this that talks about the israeli/muslim conflict, so to say its just about kurt is not true, but yes this version seems to be about kurt.

  • thats one of the biggest rumors ever, where does it say its for kurt? ed denied it as well, and they played the old version after kurts death so that sorta proves that. why does that even matter, its a great song.

    but dont spread false rumors.

Where does it say its for kurt?

  • cigar box on the floor, the public show....as privileged as a whore (C Love)

  • this song is about dealing with fame, but vedder stated that the song had no intention to be written about cobain but it could be seen that way

  • yeah well i think he added some lines about curt.

This here isn't the sam version as the one on the cd.

  • actually this version is just about word for word the same as the studio version.....but better, cause pj's better live than in the studio.

  • Mike McCready Rocks....hi..hi.

  • I think this was during their Ticketmaster boycott - so this is really rare for this time.

  • This song is dedicated to Kurt Cobain right?

  • Yeah, even though Eddie's never admitted it,it's obvious that it's about Kurt. The 'cigar box on the floor' being the blatant clue.

  • this is before vitalogy came out, so the crowd is hearing this "awesome new song" for the first time.....sick!!

  • Classic . this song is SO GREAT! thanks fir posting. My second fav from them of all time!

  • After seeing Seether's cover of this song, I looked for a PJ acoustic version. This one is fantastic. One of Neil Young's Annual Bridge School benefit shows.

    THANKS gndcd402!!

  • PJ sounds even better when they play acoustically!

  • Awesome!!!!

  • que bonita versión.

  • phenominal
