just to be correct about it, bass does hurt your ears, but not as much as high pitched and mid range noise

and also, if you hear too much bass, you will lose a little bit of the ability to hear bass, but its ok because you can feel it more anyway :D

Dude if you port that box the bass will sound a lot tighter. Clean and crisp bass. But it does take away a tiny bit from how loud it is. Sealed boxes are louder but sloppy sounding. I prefer ported to get a higher quality sound.

that other fool is wrong. without it ported the air is being stretched inside the box and with a port it is being transfered through the air. without a port there is extra vibration that isnt from the music, so the bass is making noise for an extra .25 seconds. just watch the sub bounce when there isnt supposed to be bass. it sounds sloppy.
