  • Jaguar had potential that was never realized. Apparently it was difficult to program for at the time due to a flaw in the cpu's memory controller, incomplete documentation for the dev tools, and a buggy UART. Supposedly the Sega Saturn had a similar issue by being hard to program for due to it's dual-cpu design. One of the major reasons for the PS1's success is that it was a single-cpu (MIPS R3000A) design with a more traditional architecture and thus was easier to program for.
